The UFC 262 preliminary card this Saturday night in Houston is loaded with even matchups, featuring four favorites at shorter than -150 odds. This should be an exciting prelim card to watch, but it will be a tricky one for the tipsters.

Middleweight: Andre Muniz (-110) vs Ronaldo Souza (-110)

Andre Muniz (20-4-0) has won six straight fights and is off to a strong start in the UFC with wins in each of his first two fights with the promotion. Muniz will get his toughest test to date this Saturday against Ronaldo Souza. While Souza (26-9-0) has lost each of his last three fights, all three of those losses have come against top-level opponents in Jack Hermansson, Jan Blachowicz and Kevin Holland.

Considering that Souza was knocked out in the first round of his last fight and enters this bout at 41-years-old, it’s hard to believe that he has much fight left in the tank. He could defeat an inexperienced fighter like Muniz, but considering how strong Muniz has looked on the mat, where Souza has historically done most of his damage, we’ll take the younger man to pass his test.

Featherweight: Mike Grundy (-118) vs Lando Vannata (-102)

Mike Grundy (12-2-0) had a nine-fight winning streak snapped in his last bout when he lost to Movsar Evloev in his second UFC fight. Lando Vannata (11-5-2) has been with the promotion since 2016 and has produced underwhelming results over that stretch with a 3-5-2 record over 10 fights. Neither of these fighters instil much confidence, but we’ll give Grundy a pass for his loss to the undefeated Evloev and take him to get back on the horse with a win over Vannata.

Women’s Flyweight: Antonina Shevchenko (-125) vs Andrea Lee (+105)

Antonina Shevchenko (9-2-0) has compiled a 3-2 record in the UFC and is coming off of a knockout win against Ariane Lipski in her most recent trip to the octagon. Andrea Lee (11-5-0) had won seven straight fights – including her first three in the UFC – before losing each of her last three fights. Shevchenko has struggled badly against capable grapplers, and Lee is exactly that. Although she is a slight outsider with UFC bookies, look for Lee to control enough of this fight on the ground to score the victory.

Middleweight: Jordan Wright (-115) vs Jamie Pickett (-105)

Jordan Wright (11-1-0) suffered his first career loss last November when he was knocked out by Joaquin Buckley at UFC 255. Jamie Pickett (11-5-0) lost his UFC debut in December to Tafon Nchukwi by decision. All 11 of Wright’s wins have come by stoppage (six knockouts, five submissions) and eight of Pickett’s 11 wins have come by knockout, so don’t expect this one to go to the cards. We’ll take Wright to win in what should be an entertaining slugfest.
