Bayern Munich begin their journey towards an 11th-straight Bundesliga championship this Friday on the road against Eintracht Frankfurt. We’ve got a pick for that matchup as well as the Borussia Dortmund vs Bayer Leverkusen and Monchengladbach vs Hoffenheim matches in our best bets for Matchweek 1 of the 2022/23 Bundesliga season.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich took over first place atop the Bundesliga table in Matchweek 5 last season with a 4-1-0 start to the year and never looked back, eventually clinching their 10th-straight Bundesliga title with a 24-5-5 record. This year’s squad will be without Robert Lewandowski, who scored 238 goals in 253 appearances from 2014-2022 with Bayern.

Eintracht Frankfurt went 10-12-12 last season to finish 11th on the Bundesliga table in 2021-22. The club’s first win after a 0-5-1 start surprisingly came on the road against Bayern Munich as huge underdogs last season. Each of the last three games between Frankfurt and Bayern Munich have been one-goal games, and Bayern might need some time to adjust on offense without Lewandowski. This looks like a decent spot to take a shot on Eintracht Frankfurt as a 1.25-goal home underdog.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Hoffenheim

Monchengladbach ended the 2021-22 season on a high note, going 5-3-1 over their last nine matches to finish the year with a 12-9-13 record. Hoffenheim, meanwhile, trended in the opposite direction, compiling a 13-4-8 record before ending the 2021-22 season on a 0-3-6 skid. Both of these clubs will be looking to kick off this season on a high with a win on Saturday.

We’re going to take a shot on a draw bet in this matchup. While backing Monchengladbach as the favorite certainly makes sense, only one point separated these two teams in the standings last season and five of the last eight matches that they’ve played against each other have ended in a draw. Getting just under 3/1 on a draw looks like a good bet in what should be a fairly even matchup.

Borussia Dortmund vs Bayer Leverkusen

Two of Bundesliga’s top clubs will clash right out of the gate on Saturday when Borussia Dortmund host Bayer Leverkusen. Dortmund finished in second place on the Bundesliga table with a 22-3-9 record last season and Bayer Leverkusen were not far behind in third place with a 19-7-8 record.

Both of last season’s games were high-scoring thrillers as Leverkusen defeated Dortmund 5-2 on the road and Dortmund picked up a 4-3 win over Leverkusen. The total in this Saturday’s matchup is set at 3.5 goals, and that seems low given that eight of the last nine games between these two clubs have produced four goals or more. The OVER looks like a pretty clear play in what should be another fun one this weekend.
