Two top-seven matchups highlight the EPL Matchweek 23 betting card as Chelsea hosts Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United visits Manchester United. We’ve got picks in these two matchups as well as Saturday’s Southampton vs Manchester City match in this weekend’s English Premier League best bets.

Manchester United vs West Ham United

Manchester United (10-5-6) snapped a two-game winless streak with a 3-1 road win over Brentford on Wednesday. Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines after the win for arguing with his manager about being taken out in a defensive substitution in the second half. Despite the team’s inconsistent play of late, Man United is still a respectable 5-2-1 over its last eight matches.

West Ham United (11-4-7) had a three-game win streak snapped in a disappointing 3-2 loss at home to Leeds United on Sunday. The match continued West Ham’s recent trend towards high-scoring games, as the club has scored at least two goals in each of its last five matches and has seen four of those matches produce a total of four goals.

We like this Saturday’s matchup to go OVER the posted total of 2.75 goals. Three of Manchester United’s last four games have produced four goals, and both teams’ current form-lines suggest they should be comfortable in a fast-paced game with lots of scoring chances.

Southampton vs Manchester City

Manchester City (18-2-2) carries a perfect 12-0-0 record over its last dozen matches into this Saturday’s road match against Southampton. City has won each of its last three games by only one goal after recording an average margin of victory 4.67 goals per game over its previous three wins. A win over Southampton is extremely likely, but will Man City cover the spread?

We are leaning towards Southampton (5-9-7) on the two-way line. The Saints suffered a 3-1 loss to Wolves on Saturday, but that result came on the road. The club is 3-4-0 in its last seven home matches and played City to a 0-0 draw in Manchester back in September. Considering City’s recent trend towards one-goal games and Southampton’s solid play at home, the underdog against the spread looks like a the right move in this spot.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea (12-8-3) settled for yet another draw on Tuesday night on the road against Brighton & Hove Albion, falling to 0-3-1 over its last four games. Chelsea has only one win since December 11 with a 1-5-1 record over its last seven matches and now sits a full 12 points behind Manchester City despite having played an extra game.

Tottenham Hotspur (11-3-5) pulled off a wild win on the road over Leicester City on Wednesday as Steven Bergwijn scored in the 95th minute to tie the game at 2-2 and then again in the 97th minute to pull off the 3-2 rally. Tottenham hasn’t lost since October, with a 6-3-0 record over its last nine matches. Predicting an outright upset might be a bit ambitious, but Tottenham’s momentum and Chelsea’s stagnant play of late makes the draw look tempting in this one.
