Sunday, November 15, 4:25pm EST at Metlife Stadium, New Jersey
THE unbeaten New England Patriots head into rival territory when they face the 5-4 New York Giants this Sunday at Metlife Stadium.
Bookmakers are already offering a market where punters can bet on the Patriots going 16-0 this season, but do we all remember what happened last time the Patriots looked to go unbeaten?
Let us refresh your memory.
In 2012 the unbeaten Patriots headed to the Superbowl to face the Giants, which were massive underdogs, and many media outlets had already written their “Patriots remain unbeaten” headlines.
Telling the Giants and Eli Manning that they can’t win was a big mistake, and their 21-17 victory that year was one of the biggest upsets in Superbowl history. Fast forward three years and the circumstances are very similar – the Patriots are unbeaten and the Giants are significant underdogs.
The Giants are leading a rather poor division this season, but they have managed to record a winning season to date and there is rarely too much separating these two sides.
The Patriots are rolling and they look set to contest not only the playoffs, but Superbowl 50. Punters aren’t getting much value with the Patriots head-to-head market, but there are plenty of other betting options to choose from this Sunday afternoon.
Giants vs. Patriots betting markets
Money line:
New York Giants – (+270)
New England Patriots – (-340)
Most of the early money has come for the Patriots in the money line market. They opened at around -300 and have since moved into -340 on the back of solid support.
Most Patriots’ backers believe there is no way the Giants can stop Tom Brady and the highly-touted Patriots offense, and we would have to agree with them on that front.
Bettors wanting to take the Giants are getting good value, considering they’re having a winning season and they are playing at home. They also have the knowledge that they can beat the Patriots when they are at their best, something that will forever haunt the New England franchise.
For a bit more added security or risk, bettors can look at the spread option.
Giants (+7.0) at -110 with Bovada.lv
Patriots (-7.0) at -100
The +7 spread for the Giants means they can lose by a touchdown and punters will get their money back. That added security appeals to punters and their defense is considered good enough to stop the high-scoring Patriots attacking force.
The Total Points market is a tougher option to pick, but with the current line sitting at 54.5 points, this could be the best option for bettors in this game.
We’re predicting a tough battle between two teams that have no trouble scoring points, but this looks like a good statistical bet based on this seasons performances.
The Patriots’ last five games have totaled 37, 43, 53, 61 and 36 points. Four of those games fall under the 54.5 points being offered this Sunday and the only game that went over that line was against the Colts which play a completely different style to the Giants.
The last five Giants games have gone 40, 101, 47, 34 and 57. Those inconsistent totals don’t bother us too much as the Patriots won’t allow the Giants to score 49 points like the New Orleans Saints did.
Under 54.5 (-100) at Bovada.lv looks to be the best betting option.

(W)Patriots 34 – Colts 27

Total yards – 433.4
Yards passing – 338.6
Yards rushing – 94.8
Yards allowed – 357.5
Pass yards allowed – 268.3
The New England Patriots score, on average, just over seven points more than the Giants per game, which makes the current spread line of +/-7 important.
As expected, the Patriots have more total yards and total passing yards, but New York have the slight advantage on the ground.
There are also some injury concerns for both teams. The Patriots have running back Dion Lewis on the injury reserve list and that will add to their troubles at the running back position.
Keshawn Martin (WR), Julian Edelman (WR), Jabaal Sheard (DL) and Jamie Collins (LB) are all questionable for the Patriots.
For the Giants, wide receiver Victor Cruz is out, but Orleans Darkwa and Rueben Randle are both probable to play on Sunday.
Apart from those injuries, both teams look healthy enough to put on a good show and we’re expecting a tight contest between two sides with plenty of history,
On face value, the Patriots appear the better side, but the Giants have fond memories of 2012 and that could bring them into contention.
