Liverpool vs. Brighton and Hove Albion result odds – EPL betting tips

Liverpool v Brighton
Liverpool are set to face Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend in Match Day 3 of the 2018/2019 English Premier League season, with the match scheduled to take place on Saturday afternoon at Anfield.

The Reds have thus far made a progressive start to the campaign, having emerged victorious in their first two opening matches.

Their most recent exploit came on Monday night when they brushed aside Crystal Palace with a 2-0 win to emerge with maximum points from Selhurt Park; a ground that hasn’t always been as accommodating for the Merseyside club.

Jurgen Klopp’s charges began the day on the front foot as their formidable attacking line rained down on the hosts, but still had to wait until the dying moments of the first half to find the breakthrough. James Milner was the one to elevate Liverpool to the scoreboard, as the veteran converted crisply from the penalty spot after Mohamed Salah was brought down by Mamadou Sakho.

Matters would however turn for the worst for Palace, who had prodigy Aaron Wan-Bissaka shown a straight red fifteen minutes to the final whistle after he was adjudged to have brought down Salah who was clean through on goal.

With the numbers gains and blistering pace, Sadio Mane assuredly put the result beyond reach for the Eagles in injury time, as the Senegalese made a brilliant ran from his own half before rounding Wayne Hennessey for the second goal.

Liverpool have been off and running in the new campaign, but their resplendent form has been overshadowed by a seemingly over strength Manchester City side.

The champions have already made considerable headway in their title defense as they have, albeit momentarily, fended off the attention of Liverpool on the standing. City currently leads the log by goal difference after a free-scoring expedition last weekend that saw they thrash Huddersfield 6-1 at the Etihad.

Jurgen Klopp, following the victory over Crystal Palace, may have admitted that he wasn’t bothered by the fact that his side couldn’t match City’s free-scoring result, but the German will without question push the limit of his side against the Seagulls.

Brighton registered the biggest upset thus far into the season, as they trounced Manchester United 3-2 at the Falmer Stadium for their first win of the season. Glenn Murray sparked wild celebrations when the flicked in the opener on 25 minutes before Shane Duffy doubled the advantage for the hosts two minutes later.

Romelu Lukaku narrowed the deficit eleven minutes before the interval, but a penalty awarded to Brighton right before the break gave United a mountain to climb, as Pascal Gross converted from 12 yards to restore the two-goal cushion.

Paul Pogba, on his second successive game wearing the armband, scored from the spot to make it 3-2 for the visitors but there was never going to be enough time to salvage a result from the match.

For their match against Brighton, Liverpool are expected to be without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Dejan Lovren who are both sidelined with long term injuries. The former sustained a nasty knee injury last season while the latter came back from the World Cup with stomach pain.

Joel Matip was only fit enough for the bench on their trip to Selhurst Park but could play a part on Saturday. Brighton and Hove Albion on the other hand have no serious injuries to contend with ahead of their trip to Anfield.

Liverpool vs. Brighton betting predictions

Liverpool have a 100% record in their first two Premier League matches of the season but from the looks of it, it may not be down to how many games the Reds win but rather by how many goals- should they ever hope to keep up with Manchester City.
