Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New Orleans Saints spread betting & NFL tips
Betting Line: Saints -5.5
Over/Under: 53.5 points at 888 Sportsbook
The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints will go to war on Sunday in an NFL encounter expected to produce fireworks.
The Steelers won their last game, which snapped their three-game losing streak and the win was a big one.
Not only did they beat the New England Patriots, but they kept their slim lead in the AFC North. They are only a half a game up on the Baltimore Ravens in the division and they are also being chased by the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts, who are with the Ravens at 8-6, for the Wild Card if they do not win the division. In their three-game skid they gave up at least 23 points in each game before holding the Pats to only 10 points in their last game.
The Saints have won two in a row and they are in good shape to be the top seed in the NFC when the playoffs roll around. For them to lose the top seed they have to lose their last two games while the L.A. Rams, who they beat earlier this season, have to win their last two games. While the Saints are known for their offense and star QB Drew Brees it has been the New Orleans’ defense and run game that has stepped up as of late.
New Orleans is 5-1 at home this season and the Steelers are 4-2 on the road.
These teams have not faced off since the 2014 season.
This season the Steelers are 7-6-1 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 7-7 with the Saints are at 10-4 ATS with an Over/Under record of 5-9.
In their win over the Patriots in their last game the Steelers were at home and won 17-10. They outgained the Pats 376 yards to 368 yards and had a legit game on the ground with 158 rushing yards.
Ben Roethlisberger had 235 passing yards in the win over New England with two touchdowns and two interceptions and Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster combined for 89 receiving yards. The big star of the game was running back Jaylen Samuels, who took the place for the injured James Conner and rushed for 142 yards while he came into the game with only 59 rushing yards. Conner will likely not go in this game with an ankle injury and Samuels will have to man the backfield.
The Saints have had a Jekyll and Hyde defense on the season, as they rank first in the NFL in run defense, but only 28th in pass defense.
The Saints played their last game on Monday night on the road and in a less than barnburner they beat the Carolina Panthers 12-9. Their defense came up big only giving up 247 total yards and they rushed for 155 yards. Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram combined for 130 rushing yards while Brees passed for 203 yards with an interception. Brees has not had to put up big numbers with the run game and defense working and he and New Orleans will be facing a Steelers’ defense that shut down the Patriots in their last game and on the season, ranks sixth in the league against the run and 13th against the pass.
New Orleans has the top ranked run defense in the NFL while the Steelers had a great ground game against the Patriots in their last game. The Steelers are 10-3-1 ATS in their last 15 games after rushing for over 150 yards in their previous game.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New Orleans Saints betting prediction
The Steelers could really use a win in this game, but too bad they will not get it in the Big Easy.
Brees will have a big game, unlike his last few, and lead New Orleans to a win and they will win and cover at home.
The win by the Saints will mean they will be the #1 seed in the playoffs in the NFC.
