Serie A 2021/22 Matchweek 7 betting picks & top value tips

Fiorentina vs Napoli pits two of the top five clubs on the Serie A table against each other in one of the top matches of Matchweek 7. We’ve got a play in that one as well as picks in Torino vs Juventus and Atalanta vs AC Milan in this week’s Serie A soccer betting tips.

Torino vs Juventus

Juventus (2-2-2) actually enters this matchup with the same record as Torino (2-2-2) and with a worse goal differential at zero (10 goals for, 10 goals against) compared to Torino’s +3 (nine goals for, six goals against). But these numbers do not tell the story of Juventus’s current form. The club got off to a disastrous 0-1-2 start to the season amid Cristiano Ronaldo transfer rumors and eventually did lose the Portuguese superstar to Manchester United.

Since September 14 however, the club is 2-1-0 in Serie A play and 2-0 in UEFA Champions League play, most recently pulling off an impressive 1-0 win over Chelsea on Wednesday. Torino is having a solid season and won’t be an easy out on Saturday, but this is a road test that Juventus should be able to pass given that the club is back on track of late.

Fiorentina vs Napoli

Fiorentina is off to a somewhat surprising 4-0-2 start to the season despite a zero goal differential with nine goals scored and nine goals conceded. This squad finished in the bottom half of the Serie A table in 2020-21 with a 9-13-16 record. Fiorentina has won four one-goal games but has failed its two toughest tests to date in a pair of 3-1 losses to Roma and Inter Milan.

Now Fiorentina will be taking on Napoli (6-0-0) at home on Sunday. Napoli defeated Cagliari 2-0 last Sunday and has won its last three games by a combined score of 10-0, bringing its season goal differential to +14 with 16 goals scored and only two allowed. The road team is also 4-0-0 in its last four matches against Fiorentina with three straight clean sheet victories by two goals or more. Napoli won’t stay perfect all season, but it likely will this week.

Atalanta vs AC Milan

Despite the fact that AC Milan (5-1-0) has a better record than Atalanta (3-2-1) and a far superior goal differential of +9 compared to +2, the Rossoneri are going off as big underdogs on the road in this matchup. It makes enough sense that Atalanta is the favorite here; Milan has had pretty soft competition so far and Atalanta is playing well with a 2-1-0 record over its last three matches, including a solid road draw against Inter Milan last Saturday.

Still, the betting odds shouldn’t be quite as lopsided as they are here. Milan’s defense has been fantastic this season and Atalanta’s offense won’t necessarily be the toughest unit to stop with only eight goals in six matches. These two clubs have been very evenly matched in recent years too with matching 2-3-2 records in their last seven head-to-head matchups. Atalanta should win this one at home, but AC Milan is a very live dog offering excellent value at this price.
