2015/16 NFL future markets and Super Bowl odds and free picks

NFL kick-offWHO can’t wait until Thursday?

Us too.

The NFL returns, the Pittsburgh Steelers play the New England Patriots and you know the big story will be Tom Brady.

NFL futures markets have been open since February and they can be bet on during the season, but a lot of the value in futures bets will dissipate once the regular season gets underway.

Now is the time to bet on NFL Super Bowl futures, conference futures, division futures, regular season win totals and of course, season-long player/team props. I’m going to do my best to highlight each of these football betting markets.

Who will win the 2016 NFL Super Bowl?

Tom Brady NFL Super Bowl
Can Tom Brady and the Patriots do it again?

Can anyone tell me why the Green Bay Packers (+550) are favored to win the Super Bowl still?

Clearly the bookmakers don’t believe the loss of Jordy Nelson is as big as it is. Nelson led the Packers in receptions (98), targets (151), receiving yards (1519), receiving touchdowns (13) and average yards per catch (15.5) last season.

Randall Cobb may crack 100+ receptions after having 91 last season, but where else will Nelson’s loss get made up?

The Seattle Seahawks (+650), which you can use to bet on the NFL. are a much better bet out of the NFC in 2015.

Seattle lost Byron Maxwell on defense, but replaced him with Cary Williams and Will Blackmon. TE Jimmy Graham was brought in to give Russell Wilson a better weapon in the pass game, but this Seahawks team will still be run-first.

Marshawn Lynch is back and he’ll be looking to rush for 1200+ yards for the fifth consecutive season with Seattle.

Out of the AFC – you have to like the New England Patriots (+900) and they’re priced well. Tom Brady won’t serve a suspension in 2015 at this point, despite the NFL’s appeal. You can bet Brady and Bill Belichick will have a chip on their shoulders.

Who will win the AFC and NFC?

It should be obvious who I’m picking to win the AFC and NFC.

I’ll be betting on the Seattle Seahawks (+325) to win the NFC and the New England Patriots (+375) to win the AFC.

I really don’t see the Seahawks having too much trouble getting back to the NFL Super Bowl again. The Patriots are far from a lock in the AFC, though, as I believe this could be the year the Indianapolis Colts (+300) win the conference.

Andrew Luck has the potential to be the best QB in 2015 and if the defense holds up – the Colts will contend with NE.

2015 AFC East futures odds and picks

New England Patriots -200
Miami Dolphins +350
Buffalo Bills +600
New York Jets +1200

Now that Tom Brady is back it’s tough to look past the Patriots in the AFC East. I still like the Bills, but they have QB problems still. Miami is going to be good on defense, but working in a new receiving unit will likely cause some growing pains.

2015 AFC North futures odds and picks

Baltimore Ravens +150
Pittsburgh Steelers +200
Cincinnati Bengals +250
Cleveland Browns +1200

The AFC North is always tough to predict and this year is no different. The Ravens are favored, but I project the Steelers and Bengals to finish higher. Pittsburgh defense is going to be bad, but they could have the best offense.

Cincinnati is my pick to win the division, though. Andy Dalton struggles in the NFL playoffs, but not during the regular season.

2015 AFC South futures odds and picks

Indianapolis Colts -400
Houston Texans +425
Tennessee Titans +1600
Jacksonville Jaguars +1600

No one is going to beat Andrew Luck and the Colts in the AFC South, but is it worth betting them at -400 odds? The Colts stole Andre Johnson from the Texans, plus Arian Foster is already injured to start the season for Houston.

If you don’t mind the odds – the Colts are the easiest division futures bet in the NFL in 2015-16.

2015 AFC West futures odds and picks

Denver Broncos -150
Kansas City Chiefs +325
San Diego Chargers +375
Oakland Raiders +1200

I don’t like the Broncos this season. The defense should be good, but the offense took a hit by losing Julius Thomas. I really wasn’t impressed with Peyton Manning during the preseason and you could tell he’s definitely on the decline.

I’m taking a shot on the Chargers in the AFC West. They have a ton of speed at WR with guys like Keenan Allen, Stevie Johnson and Jacoby Jones. Melvin Gordon will help the run game and Philip Rivers knows he’s running out of time to win.

2015 NFC East futures odds and picks

Philadelphia Eagles +100
Dallas Cowboys +170
New York Giants +500
Washington Redskins +1400

The odds are steaming in on the Eagles to win the NFC East division, so jump on them now at evens. Dallas will find out losing DeMarco Murray will hurt more than expected and the Giants don’t have the offensive depth that the Eagles have.

2015 NFC North futures odds and picks

Green Bay Packers -220
Minnesota Vikings +425
Detroit Lions +450
Chicago Bears +1800

Green Bay are still a great team. They won’t win the NFL Super Bowl without Nelson, but they’re still going to make the playoffs and win the NFC North. Minnesota is still one or two years away from contending with the Packers for the division title.

2015 NFC South futures odds and picks

New Orleans Saints +175
Atlanta Falcons +200
Carolina Panthers +275
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +600

This is another close division with great futures odds. I’m ruling Carolina out due to the loss of Kelvin Benjamin at WR. The Falcons are my bet, but that hinges on Julio Jones and Matt Ryan both staying healthy for the season.

Atlanta should have a better run game with rookie Tevin Coleman. The Saints lost a lot this off-season and lack much depth.

2015 NFC West futures odds and picks

Seattle Seahawks -300
Arizona Cardinals +500
St. Louis Rams +700
San Francisco 49ers +1600

Here’s another easy division to predict. Seattle brings back most key players, plus they added Graham. The Cardinals are going to be tough and the Rams should be more competitive with Nick Foles airing it out, but neither are close to the Seahawks.
