2016 Wimbledon multi picks and value bets for round three

IT has been a mixed bag of performances at Wimbledon this year, but the favoured Australians are through to the next round so the excitement continues.

We haven’t lost a top seed in the gentlemen’s draw, but fans got treated to a top-class performance from Serbia’s Viktor Troicki overnight. The No.27 ranked player went ballistic at the umpires and it’s a nice change from seeing Australia’s bad boy Nick Kyrgios in the headlights.

We have a four-leg Wimbledon multi for your Saturday morning pleasure which kicks off with Japan’s Kei Nishikori vs. Andrey Kuznetsov.

Kuznetsov ($5.30) vs. Nishikori ($1.16)

Kei Nishikori was an easy first round winner, but he did drop a set in the second round. The Japanese star battled back to win the match convincingly and he now faces Andrey Kuznetsov, who won his second round match in straight sets.

The bookmakers have this as a one-sided affair and they are probably right. Kuznetsov is a solid player, but Nishikori should have the overall edge.

We think Kuznetsov is good enough to take a set off Nishikori, who sometimes has a lack of focus. Nishikori to win 3-1 in sets pays $3.50 with Sportsbet.com.au and that looks a handy multi-bet kick starter.

Leg 1: Nishikori 3-1 ($3.50 at Sportsbet)

Sock ($5.30) vs. Raonic ($1.16)

Milos Raonic has progressed through to the third round in straight sets. The big Canadian has an almost identical record in both games, winning the first in a tie break before winning the next two 6-4 and 6-2.

He was far too good for Andreas Seppi, who is a solid player in his own right, and he now comes up against his North American neighbour Jack Sock.

Sock is an enigmatic player who has the ability to push the best players in the world, but he doesn’t always put his best foot forward. He dropped one set in his second round match against Robin Haase, but the other sets were won comfortably.

The big-serving Raonic should be able to grind Sock down and, with an improving ground game, cover the current spread of -4.5.

Leg 2: Raonic -4.5 ($1.61 at Sportsbet)

Federer ($1.02) vs. Evans ($15)

It’s safe to say Roger Federer will be winning this match and it will likely come in straight sets, but the bookmakers have set the game handicap line at 7.5 and we think there’s some value there.

Daniel Evans took care of Dolgopolov in straight sets in round two, which was an incredible performance, but he’s facing a different task in a seven-time Wimbledon winner who has yet to drop a set in 2016.

Most punters are expecting a 3-0 win to Federer, which pays only $1.25, but we’re looking for value and have been attracted by the -7.5 games option. We think he can win at least one set by a score of 6-1 or 6-2, so the Federer -7.5 games handicap at $2 is a great value pick.

Leg 3: Federer -7.5 ($2 at Sportsbet)

Gasquet ($1.10) vs. Ramos-Vinolas ($7)

Frenchman Richard Gasquet is known for his ability to grind out a lengthy five-setter and that could be on the cards against Albert Ramos-Vinolas, who edged out Viktor Troicki in five sets.

The Spanish player upset the No.25 seed with a gritty display and, if he can get enough rest, should be able to provide some challenge for Gasquet, who has dropped only one set on his way to the third round.

Bookmakers are expecting a straight-sets victory to Gasquet, but we think Ramos-Vinolas can win at least one set. He’s currently paying $1.91 to win a set and that is solid value for multi-bet punters.

Leg 4: Ramos-Vinolas to win a set ($1.91 at Sportsbet)

Wimbledon round 3 multi-bet

Nishikori 3-1 ($3.50)
Raonic -4.5 ($1.61)
Federer -7.5 ($2)
Ramos-Vinolas to win a set ($1.91)

Four-leg multi returns $210.52 for a $10 stake at Sportsbet
