2019 FIBA World Cup Day 6 betting odds, tips and predictions

FIBA Basketball World Cup quarter final predictions

Day 6 of the 2019 FIBA World Cup has the last eight games of the first group stage before the field is culled to 16 teams for the second round.

Here is the schedule and the latest FIBA World Cup betting odds for Thursday, September 5.

Senegal vs Canada (-14.5) O/U 159.5
Montenegro vs Brazil (-8.5) O/U 159
Jordan vs Germany (-18.5) O/U 153.5
Czech Republic vs Turkey (-8.5) 154.5
Australia vs Lithuania (-1) O/U 167.5
New Zealand vs Greece (-14) O/U 167.5
France (-21) vs Dominican Republic O/U 153
Japan vs USA (-30.5) O/U 169.5

Argentina, Italy, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Spain, USA, Brazil, France, Dominican Republic, Lithuania, and Australia are already assured a berth into the next round. However, the winner of the group has the advantage in the next round of games, so there is still a lot to play for.

Czech Republic vs Turkey (-8.5) 154.5

The Turks had several chances to beat TEAM USA in their last game losing to them 93-92 in overtime and in the extra period they missed four free throws. This is a winner take all game, as the winner will advance to the next round while the loser is disqualified.

Turkey did not have the best shooting game against the Yanks, but while giving up 93 points they held them to 35.1% shooting playing solid zone defense. They have a balanced team that had five players go for at least 12 points and the Czechs really have to worry about Ersan Ilyasova, who has a double-double in both games in the World Cup and went for 23 points and 14 boards in the loss to Team USA.

After losing by 21 points and only scoring 67 points in the loss to Team USA Czech Republic beat Japan 89-76 in their last game. While they won by 13 points, they allowed Japan to shoot 55.2% from the floor and have to play better defense in this game. Jaromir Bohacik went for 22 points for the Czechs as did reserve Blake Schilb after going for only three points in the loss to USA.

Turkey has a more balanced squad and they will win and cover facing a Czech team that has not played good defense in the tournament.

Australia vs Lithuania (-1) O/U 167.5

This has to be the biggest game on the Day 6 schedule, as while both teams have already qualified for the next round the winner will win Group H. That is pretty big, as the loser will likely face France in the next round.

Lithuania has looked great in the tournament winning their two games by blowouts and scoring at least 92 points in each game. They crushed Canada 92-69 in their last game where they played solid defense and pulled down 19 offensive boards. They have a great frontcourt with Domantas Sabonis and Jonas Valanciunas, who combined for 23 points and 16 rebounds in the win over Canada with neither playing more than 23 minutes.

Australia has won both their games and in their last one beat Senegal by 13 points while Lithuania beat them by 54 points. Patty Mills and Joe Ingles lead the Aussies and they combined for 39 points in the win over Senegal. They have to be worried about the Lithuanian frontcourt, as even winning by 13 points over Senegal they gave up 13 offensive rebounds.

Lithuania is cruising and while they may not win in a blowout, they will win comfortably easily covering the spread and winning Group H.

France (-21) vs Dominican Republic 153

Both of these teams are off to the next round and the winner of this game will win Group G. France is the big betting favorite in this game, which is a big one with the loser playing the winner of the Lithuania vs. Australia game.

After a close game with Germany France blew out Jordan in their last game winning 103-64. They played great on both sides of the court holding Jordan to a FG% of 40.7% while they shot a scorching 58.9%. defensive star Rudy Gobert had 16 points and 13 rebounds and Nicolas Batum did not play and is a question mark for this game with a broken finger and an ankle injury.

The Dominican Republic do not have the world class talent like France does and while they have won both of their games in the World Cup both were very close. They beat Germany 70-68 holding them to 36.8% shooting. They play a solid team game and will have to slow the pace and play great defense to have any chance to beat France.

France will easily win this game but will likely rest many starters in the 2nd half and the Dominican Republic will not be blown out and will cover the 21-point spread.
