2019 NFL betting update: Eagles and Cowboys top NFC East odds
The latest NFL betting odds have the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys battling it out for the NFC East title, with the Washington Redskins and New York Giants rated as long shots. What else do we know about the teams?
Philadelphia Eagles odds
-112 at Bovada
The Eagles made many big off-season moves, but none bigger than re-signing QB Carson Wentz to a huge contract. He has been solid in his three years in the NFL but has missed the end of the last two seasons with injuries. The team no longer has star backup Nick Foles, so Wentz has to stay healthy. The Eagles brought in WR DeSean Jackson and RB Jordan Howard and if Wentz is 100% the offense will be a very good one. Philly upgraded their front seven by adding Malik Jackson, Zach Brown and Vinny Curry, and they need to get Ronald Darby back from his injury to help a pass defense that allowed the third-most passing yards in the league last season. The early schedule favors the Eagles as they play only one team in their first five games that made the playoffs last season.
Dallas Cowboys odds
+153 at Bovada
The Cowboys are close to locking in Dak Prescott with a big contract and hopes are high in the Big D. They will have a full season with no.1 WR Amari Cooper and RB Ezekiel Elliot led the league in rushing yards last season. WR Randall Cobb was brought in during the off-season and TE Jason Witten decided to un-retire. The defense ranked in the top 10 in the league last season in both pass and run defense and up front they added Robert Quinn. The weakness in the Dallas squad has to be their secondary and the guys up front have to get to opposing QBs or the pass D may give up quite a few big plays. Dallas need to get off to a good start with wins over the Giants and Redskins, as in three of their next four games they face the Saints, Packers, and Eagles.

Washington Redskins odds
+1250 at Bovada
The Redskins had a busy off-season and their big question is who will be the starting QB? Alex Smith is still injured and his career might even be over, so the team traded for Case Keenum and then drafted Duane Haskins, who slid to them in the first round of the draft. They have a loaded backfield with Semaje Perine, Derrius Guice, and Adrian Peterson, but they are thin at WR and star TE Jordan Reed just can’t stay healthy. The defense ranked in the middle of the pack last season and while they lost D.J. Swearinger and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, they brought in Landon Collins and Joe Bostic and took DE Montez Sweat late in the first round. If Haskins can turn the chip on his shoulder after falling in the draft into a great rookie season and the defense plays well, the Skins can be a surprise in the division.
New York Giants odds
+1550 at Bovada
The Giants have the worst NFL betting lines to win the NFC East, and with good reason. They traded star WR Odell Beckham Jr. and while they tied for the fewest sacks in the league last season, they let Olivier Vernon go and he led the team in that category. NY reached for QB Daniel Jones with the sixth pick and plan to sit him behind Eli Manning, who had another unspectacular season last year. The Giants ranked 24th in the league on defense and their best player in Landon Collins, who led the team in tackles, is now with the Redskins. They have a young star in RB Saquon Barkley, but this may be another long season in the Big Apple.
