2019 NFL betting update: Patriots big favourites in AFC East

The New England Patriots have won 10 games in 16 straight seasons and NFL betting sites have given them the best odds, by far, to win the 2019 AFC East divisional title. What else is there to say about one of the least competitive sections in the National Football League?

New England only ranked 21st in the league in overall defense last term, but the offense should still be one of the best in the NFL. The Pats can get off to a good start, and may not look back after, with three straight games against AFC East opponents after their season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Jets are an up-and-coming team, but are they ready to get in the NFL Playoffs mix this season? Sam Darnold had a pretty good rookie season and the team spent big in the off-season, adding stars Le’Veon Bell and C.J. Mosley. Even with bringing in Jamison Crowder, the WR corps is thin and the team still has issues with a defense that ranked 25th in the league last season. New York have some talent, but can the team that won four games last year challenge the Pats in the division? Unlikely. The Jets’ first two games are against the Bills and the Browns, both at home, but after that comes a killer four-game stretch where they must play the Patriots twice, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Buffalo Bills odds

The Bills went 6-10 in 2018 and made many changes in the off-season. They signed five offensive linemen, three receivers and a running back, but none were big names. WRs John Brown and Cole Beasley give the team a major upgrade on the outside and second-year QB Josh Allen really needed that. LeSean McCoy is still in the backfield and the team signed Frank Gore and T.J Yeldon as well. First-round pick DE Ed Oliver may have been a steal and the defense has talent, but can the offense, which ranked 30th in the league last season, get it done?

The Dolphins are big-time longshots in AFC East betting, and with good reason. Many think they are in tank mode to try to land one of the top QBs in the 2020 draft. They let Ryan Tannehill, Frank Gore, Danny Amendola, Cam Wake, Robert Quinn and Andre Branch go and there are holes all over the field. Journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick will battle with second-year QB Josh Rosen, who was traded by the Arizona Cardinals after they took Heisman-winning QB Kyler Murray with the top pick in the draft.
