Kentucky bill proposes sports betting, fantasy and poker 

The Kentucky State House of Representatives has introduced a bill looking to permit sports betting, poker and fantasy sports.

The bill was supported by Lexington’s 88th District Newport’s Cherlynn Stevenson, Rachel Roberts and Derrick Graham. The bill is similar to that introduced in 2022 by Adam Koenig which was shot down at the Senate level. 

If given the green light, House Bill 106, which will bring 26 amendments to the current laws, will see the introduction of retail, mobile sports betting, daily fantasy sports and online poker in Kentucky.

These amendments will let gambling operators provide sports betting on their online platforms in the state.

The proposed laws will give bettors access to bet on professional and college sports across the state, including NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA, MLS and NCAA competitions, regulated by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission.

Operators offering those betting services will pay a $500,000 license application fee and a yearly renewal fee of $50,000. 

Also, operators offering poker and fantasy sports betting will have to pay a $250,000 license fee along with a yearly license renewal fee set at $10,000. This will also include a 6.75% monthly tax on all gaming revenue. 

Race tracks will also be mandated to pay a 9.75% revenue tax every month, and a revenue tax of 14.25% on all online sports bets.
