Premier League midweek picks & value bets – January 18-19

While there are only two games in this midweek Premier League slate, there will be plenty of talent on the park with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham in action. These two games will be split over Wednesday and Thursday, and we have picks for both of these contests.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

This projects to be a pretty straightforward game for United. They are a substantially better team than Palace and have been playing great soccer in recent matches. They have won eight of their past 10 Premier League matches and now look like they can actually challenge for the title. Guys like Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes are controlling the midfield and a resurgent Marcus Rashford has given United a reliable finisher. Palace are a fine team but currently sit in 12th place. Also, they have lost four of their past five Premier League games. Don’t overthink this; take United to win and watch them continue to climb up the table.

Man United goalscorer pick: Marcus Rashford

As we previously mentioned, Marcus Rashford is playing unbelievably well. He has completely taken over as United’s best attacker and the Red Devils’ gameplan goes through him. With the talent United possess on the wings, that is a great spot for Rashford to be in. The 25-year-old has scored in each of his last four Premier League contests and he is in line to score another here. Palace have a fine defense but United should comfortably break them down. Take Rashford to score in what would be his fifth-straight game.

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur

While on paper this looks like a great game, neither of these squads are playing very well. Although City project to win this game, they are -270 favorites and it’s simply not worth betting on them. And Tottenham at +700 feels like a waste of a longshot bet. Instead, we will take Tottenham’s main man, Harry Kane, to score a goal. Kane has slowed down his goalscoring in recent games but he still has 15 goals through 19 Premier League games. His physicality should be a problem throughout this game and, also, he takes penalties for Spurs. If Tottenham are able to create at all, Kane should grab a goal. Considering City’s defensive miscues in recent affairs, this is a great value bet.
