TWO of the best performing teams of the last month meet in week eight of the NFL season as the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots clash in New York.

The AFC East opponents already have bad blood after a pre-season incident that lead to Bills safeties Robert Blanton and Aaron Williams and cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman all being fined after taking part in a pre-game scuffle.

Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett ran through the Bills’ warm-up drills, leading to an eruption from the Buffalo players who felt ‘disrespected’ by the move.

Robey-Coleman said a similar reaction can be expected this weekend if an incident like that occurs again.

“It’s going to be the same reaction that they got last time,” Robey-Coleman said Wednesday.

“There ain’t no other way around that situation, you know? Just respect each other’s sideline and move on.”

The Bills cornerback believes the move could have been attributed to a young quarterback trying to make a name for himself and he does not expect former MVP Tom Brady to pull a similar move.

“We know that ain’t going to happen,” he said of Brady.

“Not in the New Era [Field]. I ain’t even need to hype myself up like it’s going to happen. I ain’t worried about that.

“I don’t expect [Brady] to do that. Tom is a pro, and he goes about his business well. I’m pretty sure that he’s not even going to give us that ammunition.”

When division rivals meet it seldom needs added spice but if a similar incident breaks out on Sunday we could see fireworks in New York.

Match preview

The super bowl favourites the New England Patriots travel to the outskirts of New York to face the Buffalo Bills in a crunch match up for both teams.

The Pats are flying and after sweeping aside the Big Ben-less Steelers to move to 6-1 and into $3.75 for the super bowl title at WilliamHill.com.

Tom Brady has been electric since returning from his three-week NFL imposed suspension and firmed into outright favourite in MVP betting at $4.50.

After a sensational period of play, the Buffalo Bills fell in a hole on the weekend, losing to the Miami Dolphins.

The Bills got next to no production out of star running back Lesean McCoy who left the game after suffering a hamstring injury in the early stages of the loss to the Dolphins.

It was the second injury in as many weeks that the 28-year-old has sustained after he hurt his knee in the previous week’s 45-16 hammering of the 49ers.

The man they call ‘Shady’ did not practise during the week and will be a game-time decision according to Bills head coach Rex Ryan.

If McCoy is unable to take his place the Bills will be without their two star offensive threats given wide receiver Sammy Watkins is still out after re-injuring his surgically repaired foot.

It is not all doom and gloom on the injury front for Buffalo however after confirmation defensive tackle Marcell Dareus will play Sunday after he practiced Wednesday.

Coach Ryan was coy about Dareus’ return but was optimistic his star defensive cog will be fit to play on Sunday.

“We’re hoping he’s out there,” he said. “(He’s) ene of the best in his position in the league.”

For his part, Dareus is confident he will play.

“I’m going to be playing on Sunday,” he said. “I can’t wait. We want to pull it off, make it happen.”

The addition of Dareus will be a bonus, but coming away with a win against a team who scores at will like the Patriots requires scoreboard pressure.

Without McCoy and Watkins it is hard to see the Bills generating enough on the offensive end to trouble the Patriots, who will have no such problems scoring themselves.

New England should move to 7-1 and firm even further in the super bowl betting market.
