NASCAR Quaker State 400 preview

The NASCAR Cup Series returns to EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta for the Quaker State 400 on Saturday, June 28.

This 260-lap, 400.4-mile event marks the start of NASCAR’s new In-Season Challenge — a five-race mini-series offering a $1 million prize to the best-performing driver.

It also represents a key turning point in the Cup Series schedule, with playoff spots on the line and only nine races remaining before the field is set.

The track, reconfigured in 2022, has transformed into a superspeedway-style drafting venue with high banks and tight packs. Since the change, Team Penske has owned Atlanta, leading nearly one-third of all laps across seven races.

Joey Logano has won twice and led more laps than any other driver at the track during that stretch. Ryan Blaney owns a series-best average finish of 5.0 here, while Austin Cindric has posted the best average running position at 8.67.

All three Penske drivers have shown elite control, awareness, and positioning in the pack, and they again dominate the NASCAR betting markets entering the weekend with the top online sportsbooks.

There’s added intrigue in the driver storylines heading into Saturday night’s showdown.

Chase Elliott, Atlanta’s hometown hero, has been in strong form lately with back-to-back top-five finishes and is riding a 43-race winless streak into a track where he won in 2022.

Christopher Bell was the surprise winner in the spring race here, charging from 32nd to Victory Lane, and is looking to bounce back from a subpar result at Pocono.

Kyle Busch remains winless in 2025, but he hasn’t finished worse than seventh in his last four starts at Atlanta — a track where he’s won three times.

Weather conditions are expected to be favorable for Saturday’s night race. Forecasts call for partly cloudy skies with a race-time temperature of around 78°F, gradually cooling into the high 60s as the evening progresses, providing ideal conditions for a clean, fast, and chaotic superspeedway-style sprint to the finish.

NASCAR Quaker State 400 betting predictions

Team Penske to win

There’s no denying how dominant Team Penske have been at Atlanta since the track’s reconfiguration in 2022. Between Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, and Austin Cindric, they’ve led 582 of the last 1,822 laps run at this venue. Blaney leads the Cup Series in average finish here, Cindric ranks first in average running position, and Logano has logged the most laps led. The value lies in backing all three together in the team win market at +200 with 888starz, which beats the individual odds and gives bettors the best shot at covering the likely winner.

Christopher Bell top-three finish

Christopher Bell shocked the field earlier this year by winning the Ambetter Health 400 from 32nd on the grid at this very track. He went on to win back-to-back races at COTA and Phoenix and remains one of the Cup Series’ most reliable late-race closers in pack situations. Even with recent form dipping, Atlanta’s unpredictable nature suits his calculated aggression. At +520 for a top-three finish, he’s a strong play at Stake.com.

Chase Elliott top-five finish

Chase Elliott is surging at the right time and looks poised for another strong run at his home track. He’s posted back-to-back top-five finishes and hasn’t finished outside the top 15 in six straight races. The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champ won here in 2022 and thrives in these superspeedway-style packs. With solid momentum and local crowd support behind him, a top-five finish at +215 is a sharp bet at Stake.com.
