It’s a full Ligue 1 weekend as Matchday 2 unfolds from August 22–24, 2025.
PSG aim to set the tone at home to Angers, Marseille take on Paris FC at the Vélodrome, and Lyon seek points against Metz. The Brittany derby headlines Sunday’s afternoon slot before Lille host Monaco to wrap up the round.
BettingPlanet.com has gone through every fixture in France’s top division this weekend and picked out the best bets and value plays on offer.
Friday, August 22 – 8:45pm CEST – Parc des Princes
PSG opened with a businesslike 1–0 win at Nantes, while Angers edged Paris FC 1–0 in the opening week. Historically this matchup is one-way traffic: PSG have won their last 15 Ligue 1 meetings with Angers, a club record sequence. With Luis Enrique’s side typically monopolizing territory at the Parc and Angers stepping up in class away from home, siding with the champions is the straightforward angle.
Saturday, August 23 – 5pm CEST – Orange Vélodrome
Paris FC are freshly promoted and lost 0–1 at Angers on Matchday 1. Marseille were edged 0–1 away at Rennes but return to a raucous Vélodrome. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks the most likely to find the back of the net first — a feat he achieved once last season in Saudi Arabia but five times for Marseille in the 2023/24 season.
Saturday, August 16 – 6pm CEST – Allianz Riviera
Both sides came out of Matchday 1 with 1–0 scorelines — Nice losing to Toulouse, Auxerre beating Lorient — so tempo control could be the story again. Their last Ligue 1 meeting at the Allianz Riviera finished 1–1, and Auxerre tend to keep things compact on the road.
Saturday, August 23 – 9pm CEST – Groupama Stadium
Lyon have had the better of this matchup, winning 10 of the last 15 Ligue 1 meetings, and they’re back at home, where they usually move the ball well against lower-table sides. Metz look to be up against it from the outset in this clash.
Sunday, August 24 – 3pm CEST – Stade du Moustoir
Lorient opened with a 0–1 loss away to Auxerre on Matchday 1, while Rennes beat Marseille 1–0. With both sides coming off low-scoring starts, and with derbies often producing cagey affairs, the unders in the total goals market looks a logical play.
Sunday, August 24 – 5:15pm CEST – Stade Océane
Le Havre kicked off their Ligue 1 campaign with a 1–3 loss at Monaco, while Lens went down 0–1 to Lyon. Recent encounters have produced goals; last season at Bollaert was a 4–3 thriller, and HAC also nicked a 2–1 win in January. With both defenses breached on Matchday 1, goals are on the cards again.
Sunday, August 24 – 5:15pm CEST – Stade de la Meinau
Strasbourg’s 1–0 away win at Metz was tidy, and they were excellent at La Meinau last season, posting a home record of 10-5-2 in Ligue 1. Nantes battled but lost 1-0 to PSG in their opener. With Strasbourg’s home platform and defensive shape, the hosts should have too much class for Nantes.
Sunday, August 24 – 5:15pm CEST – Stade Pierre-Mauroy
Brest’s games are rarely boring: they drew 3–3 with Lille first-up, and last season’s meeting in Toulouse finished 2–4 to Brest. Toulouse are typically brave in possession at home, which invites transition chances the other way.
Sunday, August 17 – 8:45pm CEST – Decathlon Arena
This fixture has tightened up in recent times, with each of the last five Ligue 1 meetings finishing under 2.5 goals. Despite both Lille and Monaco being genuine threats to PSG this year, a cagey affair is expected at the Decathlon Arena.
