The Rams begin their quest to win the NFC title again heading down south for their opener facing the Panthers as a slight 1.5-point favorite. L.A. recently gave QB Jared Goff a fat new contract and he has to live up to that and has to weapons around him to do it.

The Panthers were a disappointment last season when they went 7-9 and lost seven of their last eight games. Cam Newton was not the same after he injured his shoulder in the middle of last season where he passed for 3,395 yards with 24 TD and 13 INT. McCaffery is the player the Rams really have to worry about on defense, as the all-everything RB rushed for 1,098 yards last season and led the team with 867 receiving yards. The WR corps for the Panthers is decent at best, but they will look to run the ball in this game and get short passes to McCaffery.

The Rams were pretty good defending the pass last season, but even with Donald, who lead the NFL with 20.5 sacks, the run defense only ranked 23rd and that is a big issue for this game facing the run-first Panthers.
