UFC Vegas #4 Main Card & Prelims Betting Preview

While the main event of the UFC on ESPN 12 card between Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker should excite UFC fans, the rest of the card leaves quite a bit to be desired due to a card that was already affected by the COVID-19 pandemic getting hit hard with a handful of late replacements. Still, even a mediocre UFC card is better than nothing, and there is always money to be made with the right selections.

Welterweight: Mike Perry (-320) vs. Mickey Gall (+260)

The name recognition of these two fighters is the only thing placing this fight anywhere near the top of the card. Mike Perry (13-6-0) has lost five of his last seven fights and Mickey Gall (6-2-0) has beaten no one of substance through his first seven fights with the promotion.

This is a fight that Perry should win. On paper it is a grappler vs. striker matchup, but the advantage Perry has over Gall in striking is far greater than the advantage Gall has over Perry in grappling. A knockout win for Mike Perry is the most likely result, but on a card loaded with more reliable favorites, this looks like the spot to take a shot on the underdog.

Prediction: Mickey Gall by Submission

Middleweight: Brendan Allen (-310) vs. Kyle Daukaus (+255)

Kyle Daukaus (8-0-0) is a promising prospect that has earned seven of his first eight professional wins by way of submission. But he’s being thrown into the deep end on extremely short notice in this one, drawing Brendan Allen (14-3-0) who has won each of his last six fights including his first two UFC bouts by submission and knockout. There isn’t a ton of value on Allen at this price, but he should come away with the win.

Prediction: Brendan Allen by Decision

Heavyweight: Maurice Greene (-230) vs. Gian Villante (+190)

Maurice Green (8-4-0) has lost each of his last two fights since starting off his UFC career with three straight wins. This matchup offers Greene an excellent chance to get back in the win column; Villante (17-11-0) is an underwhelming fighter who has lost six of his last 10 fights in the light heavyweight division. Coming up to heavyweight for this matchup won’t do Villante any favors.

Prediction: Maurice Greene by Knockout

Featherweight: Sean Woodson (-450) vs. Julian Erosa (+360)

Sean Woodson (7-0-0) is off to an undefeated start in his professional MMA career including a win over Kyle Bochniak in his UFC debut last October. Julian Erosa (23-8) is another last-minute replacement on this card with an 0-3 record in three UFC fights. He gets another shot with the promotion in this one, but there’s little reason to like his chances.

Prediction: Sean Woodson by Knockout
