The 2021 US Open will kick off this Thursday on the South Course at Torrey Pines in San Diego, California. BettingPlanet.com brings you the best bets and value picks for the third men’s golf major of the year.

2021 US Open golf betting preview

The 121st US Open Championship is shaping to be one of the more competitive stagings in recent history. With narrow fairways and deep rough, driving accuracy will be crucial all week over the 7,652-yard layout at Torrey Pines.

Strong form coming into any major championship is an added bonus, and despite being forced to withdraw from last week’s tournament due to a positive COVID-19 test, Jon Rahm is the +900 favourite with the golf bookies. Last year’s winner Bryson DeChambeau is a +1400 chance to reign supreme in back-to-back US Opens.

Throw in the ever-consistent Brooks Koepka (+1800) and the likes of Collin Morikawa (+1800), Justin Thomas (+2200) and Tony Finau (+2500), and we are set up for a stellar four days of golf.

2021 US Open predictions & best bets

Outright winner: Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele has long been known as one of the ‘next big things’ in golf, and we think it is about time he breaks through in the majors. He has finished in the top six at each of his last four US Opens, and considering he finished second in the tournament held at Torrey Pines earlier this year, on paper he looks a logical selection. Despite missing the cut at last month’s PGA Championship, we expect the locally raised Schauffele to be well in contention over the weekend.

Top 10 finish: Will Zalatoris

One of the revelations of the year in the golfing world is Will Zalatoris. Having finished eighth in the PGA Championship and second in the Masters earlier in the year, Zalatoris is a star on the rise. On that form, a strong performance at Torrey Pines is well and truly on the cards. Despite finishing down the leaderboard at the Charles Schwab Challenge, we expect the youngster to bounce back this week.

Top 20 finish: Cameron Smith

The best mullet in golf belongs to Cameron Smith, and we expect the Australian to continue his strong form this year with a top-20 finish at the US Open. He missed the cut at the Memorial last week, but three top-10 finishes at the Masters in the last four years show that Smith can hang at the highest level. He has six top-10 efforts to his name on the PGA Tour this season and is currently 11th on the FedEx Cup season rankings.
