THE MLB All Star game used to have little importance in the grand scale of things, but now the stakes are high with the division winners earning home ground advantage in the World Series.
The current -122 favourites at Bovada.com is the National League All Stars which are not usually the favoured side heading into the All Star break.
The American League representatives won’t be pleased that they are outsiders at +102, but punters will enjoy the value on offer.
The game is being played at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati and the crowd will be buzzing after hometown hero Todd Frazier won the Home Run Derby the day prior.
Both teams boast extraordinary lineups and backers of the National League will be happy that Zack Greinke is starting with the ball as he has been lights out on the mound this season.

National League All Star – (-122)
The American League are heavily favoured in the moneyline market at -210 for 1 1/2 run head start. Conversely, the National League are +170 for -1 1/2 and we think that option could be where the value is at.
As the ‘total runs scored’ market suggests, the All Star game is usually a closely-contested game and the total has been set at 7 runs.
The Over 7 (-140) is the popular option as punters are expecting both teams to force the starting pitchers to leave the game early.
We favour the Under 7 option at +110, however, as the star hitters must face quality pitchers throughout the entire nine innings. You don’t get the option of facing a weakened bull pen, you must face the very best that division has to offer.
We’re expecting a scoreline of around 4-2 in favour of the National League All Stars.
American League All Stars lineup
1. Mike Trout (LA Angels)
2. Josh Donaldson (Toronto Blue Jays)
3. Albert Pujols (LA Angels)
4. Nelson Cruz (Seattle Mariners)
5. Lorenzo Cain (Kansas City Royals)
6. Adam Jones (Baltimore Orioles)
7. Salvador Perez (Kansas City Royals)
8. Jose Altuve (Houston Astros)
9. Alcides Escobar (Kansas City Royals)
Pitcher. Dallas Keuchel (Houston Astros)
The American League lineup appears to be weaker than in recent times and who would have thought there would be New York Yankee in the hitting order?
There is plenty of power with the likes of Trout, Pujols and Cruz and starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel has improved out of sight this season.
We would want more than the +102 on offer at Bovada.com, but that price might drift closer to game time.
National League All Stars lineup
1. Andrew McCutchen (Pittsburgh Pirates)
2. Todd Frazier (Cincinnati Reds)
3. Bryce Harper (Washington Nationals)
4. Paul Goldschmidt (Arizona Diamondbacks)
5. Buster Posey (San Francisco Giants)
6. Anthony Rizzo (Chicago Cubs)
7. Jhonny Peralta (St. Louis Cardinals)
8. Joc Pederson (LA Dodgers)
9. DJ LeMahieu (Colorado Rockies)
Pitcher. Zack Greinke (LA Dodgers)
The National League might look less impressive than the American League, but punters will be hoping the likes of McCutchen, Frazier and Harper will play a big role in the game.
The tail end of their lineup is a touch weak, but Peralta and Pederson can both hit the long ball, so the home run threat never ends for the National League.
Bettors have noticed this threat and have had no problems taking the -122 at Bovada.com.
