La Liga 2021/22 Matchweek 2 odds, predictions & best bets

Sevilla FC was one of the five teams that earned a win last weekend and should once again be one of the best bets on the board in Matchweek 2 of La Liga on the road to Getafe. We’ll take a look at that matchup and a couple of others in this week’s Spanish soccer betting tips.

Real Sociedad vs Rayo Vallecano

While Real Sociedad finds itself at the bottom of the table in 18th place coming off of a 4-2 loss to Barcelona, it’s best not to read too much into that result. Barcelona is still an elite club even with the departure of Lionel Messi, and Sociedad still projects to be a top-six team in La Liga after finishing in fifth place last season with a record of 17-11-10.

Rayo Vallecano’s 2021-22 season also got off to a disastrous start with a 3-0 loss to Sevilla. Rayo has spent three of the last four seasons in the Segunda Division and finished dead last in La Liga with an 8-8-22 record in its last season in the division back in 2018-19. There is no reason to expect a result much different than the one that came against Sevilla last week; expect Real Sociedad to bounce back with a comfortable win to cover the spread.

Levante UD vs Real Madrid

Karim Benzema led the way with two goals as Real Madrid cruised to a 4-1 victory over Deportivo Alaves last weekend. Should bettors expect anything different when Madrid visits Levante UD this Sunday? Levante has surprisingly played Real Madrid tough in recent seasons, as the two teams have matching 3-2-3 records against one another in their last eight meetings.

Levante opened this season with a 1-1 draw on the road against Cadiz. The Valencian outfit went just 9-14-15 last season to earn a 14th-place finish on the table and did little this offseason to suggest that a big improvement is in store. With Real Madrid looking to be in excellent form after its season opener, roll with the title contenders to earn another win in this spot.

Getafe CF vs Sevilla FC

Getafe narrowly escaped relegation last season with a record of 9-11-18, producing the worst offensive production in La Liga with only 28 goals in 38 games. The club seemed to pick up where it left off last season with a 1-0 loss to Valencia to open the 2021-22 campaign.

Sevilla is 4-0-0 in its last four games against Getafe. The road team in Monday’s matchup has not conceded a single goal in any of those four matchups, outscoring Getafe 9-0 over those four matches. This squad finished in fourth place last season with a 24-5-9 record and opened this season with an impressive 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano. Getting Sevilla to win outright at better than even money in this matchup feels like a gift.
