La Liga 2021/22 Matchweek 21 betting picks & best odds

Sevilla will attempt to close the gap on Real Madrid atop the La Liga table this Wednesday with a win on the road over Valencia. We’ve got a pick in this matchup and also have plays in the Elche vs. Villarreal and Getafe vs. Grenada games in our La Liga Matchweek 21 best bets.

Elche vs. Villarreal

Villarreal (7-8-6) has been a very streaky team in 2021-22. The club had a draw-heavy run of 2-5-0 in August and September, a 1-2-5 slump through October and November and now a 4-1-0 run over its last five matches. Villarreal’s offense has come alive with at least two goals scored in each of its last five games and an average of 3.4 goals per game over that stretch.

Elche (4-7-9) earned its fourth win of the season in a 2-1 road win over Espanyol on Monday. The last time these two clubs met, Villarreal cruised to a 4-1 win at home. The OVER 2.5 goals and Villarreal on the three-way line both look like viable options here; three or more goals have been scored in each of Villarreal’s last four games and in four of Elche’s last five. Since the OVER pays a bit better, we’ll target that as our play in this one.

Valencia vs. Sevilla

Sevilla (13-5-2) was 4-2-0 in the six games it played prior to its 2-1 loss on the road to Real Madrid and is 5-1-0 in the six games it has played since. The next meeting between Sevilla and Real Madrid in April could have league championship implications if both teams keep up their current level of play. Valencia (7-7-6) has lost each of its last two matches to Real Madrid and Espanyol since going 4-3-0 over its previous seven games.

It’s hard to find much of a reason not to take Sevilla here. The club has played well on the road of late with a 4-1-1 record in its last six road matches and had no trouble dispatching of Vallencia in a 3-1 win at home back in September. Sevilla’s league-best defense that has conceded only 13 goals in 20 matches should be able to neutralize Valencia’s offense and win this game.

Getafe vs. Grenada

Grenada (5-9-6) hasn’t lost a match since November 21, compiling a 3-4-0 record since then over its last seven matches. Getafe (4-6-10) just had a six-game unbeaten streak (3-3-0) of its own snapped in a 1-0 loss on the road at Sevilla last Sunday. These two clubs both currently reside in the bottom half of the table, but they’ve been playing much better than their records would indicate.

All signs point to a low-scoring game in this one. Granada has allowed one goal or fewer in each of its last six matches and Getafe has allowed one goal or fewer in each of its last 10. The last match between these two clubs in September ended in a 1-0 Granada victory. With the total set at just two goals, a 1-1 result would end in a push; but the extremely likely 1-0 and 0-0 finals would pay off this UNDER ticket with the online betting sites.
