2022 Winter Olympics Best Bets Day 3 | Betting Preview, 02/06/22

More gold medals will be on the line in Day 3 of the 2022 Winter Olympics this Sunday including the Women’s Slopestyle in Snowboarding, the Women’s Moguls in Freestyle Skiing and the Men’s Single in Luge. We’ve got picks in all three of these events as our Winter Olympics best bets for February 6, 2022.

Snowboarding: Women’s Slopestyle Gold Medal

There are three clear favorites to win the Women’s Slopestyle end up on the podium in this event; New Zealand’s Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (+100 to win Gold), the United States’ Jamie Anderson (+200) and Australia’s Tess Coady (+400). Everyone else on the board is going off at (+1200)or worse to win this event. There are cases to be made for all three of these women, who finished first, second, and third respectively in the FIS Snowboarding World Championships in Aspen in 2021.

Coady was the youngest member of the Australian Olympics team in 2018 at 17 years old and was going to compete in the slopestyle before tearing her ACL on a practice run. Sadowski-Synnott will be making her Olympics debut this year at 20 years old and is the favorite for good reason; she’s taken gold in the slopestyle events at the last two World Championships and has three slopestyle gold medals in the Winter X Games.

At these prices though, it’s tough to pass on Anderson. Anderson has won slopestyle gold in both 2014 and 2018 at the Olympic Games and has seven career gold medals in the Winter X Games on her resume. Sadowski-Synnott likely wins with her best effort, but anything less will open the door for the proven veteran to take the win.

Freestyle Skiing: Women’s Moguls Gold Medal

In similar fashion to the slopestyle above, this year’s Women’s Moguls event has three clear favorites that have separated from the rest of the field in France’s Perrine Laffont (+175), Australia’s Jakara Anthony (+200) and Japan’s Anri Kawamura (+250). Laffont earned the gold medal in this event in 2018 and also took gold at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships in Almaty. As the defending champion in the Women’s Moguls, Laffont is the one to beat.

But we’re going to take a shot on Anri Kawamura. Kawamura is a wild card at just 17 years old. She already has three World Cup race wins under her belt and has made the podium in 10 of her 23 career starts. With nothing to lose in her first Olympic Games, look for Kawamura to take some risks and to potentially win gold if she can pull off her moves.

Luge: Men’s Single Gold Medal

There are plenty of legitimate contenders in the running to win Sunday’s Men’s Single in Luge including Austria’ Wolfgang Kindl (+300), Germany’s Johannes Ludwig (+350), Germany’s Felix Loch (+500) and Italy’s Dominik Fischnaller (+700). Loch looks like the play at these odds; the veteran Luge expert won gold in this event in 2010 and 2014, and was the favorite to win in 2018 before making an error on his final run to settle for a fifth-place finish. Recent golds in the 2019 Winterberg World Championships and the 2021 Sigulda European Championships suggest that Loch should be plenty live to win gold again in 2022.
