Super Bowl LVI prop bets, over/under picks & value plays

Super Bowl 2022

With the biggest game in the NFL right around the corner, it’s time to check out some prop bets. Here are some of the top Super Bowl betting plays for Sunday’s matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams.

Ja’Marr Chase under 78.5 receiving yards

Ja’Marr Chase has become one of the league’s top tier receivers in just one season. It’s very rare for a rookie to do what Chase has managed to do in his first year out of LSU but we do not believe Chase will find very much success against the Ram’s tough defense.

Aaron Donald and Von Miller should feast off a Bengals offensive line that has allowed Burrow to be sacked a total of 63 times this season including 9 times two weeks ago against the Tennessee Titans. While the Bengals have still managed to get Chase involved in the offensive despite all of the sacks, it’s going to be tough sledding against the best defensive tackle in the NFL in Donald, and a future Hall of Famer in Miller.

In all likelihood, Chase will be defended by perhaps the best defensive back in all of football, Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey has always been a tough customer and this year is no exception. In every game that Ramsey is in he makes an impact and Sunday should be no different.

Evan McPherson over 7.5 points

Evan McPherson has all of a sudden turned himself into one of the league’s premier kickers in his first season out of Florida. McPherson was the only kicker drafted in the 2021 draft, and for good reason. The 22-year-old has turned in over 7.5 points in 13 games this season.

McPherson has been dynamite all season but especially as the lights got brighter in the postseason. He has delivered two game-winning field goals in his previous two weeks, one to send the Bengals to the AFC Championship and one to send them to their first Super Bowl in 33 years. Money Mac should have another great day against a Rams defense that clamps down in the red zone.

Tee Higgins first touchdown scorer

In a game with so many stars taking the field, Tee Higgins has become a very good receiving target for Joe Burrow in Cincinnati. Sure, the Rams defense is good but in all likelihood, Sean McVay and company have been searching for ways to slow down Chase and Joe Mixon. Higgins has been overlooked in his rookie year last year and especially in his second year beyond Chase. With the numbers that Chase has put up, Higgins has been right there with him. He has hauled in six touchdown passes this season and has over 1,000 yards receiving quietly in a stellar offensive season. If the Rams key in on Chase early, it will be Higgins that Burrow will turn to. At +1200, it is worth throwing a couple of dollars on.

Odell Beckham Jr over 5.5 receptions

Odell Beckham Jr has proven to be the Rams’ best midseason addition thus far. Quarterback Matt Stafford has looked Beckham’s way often and at times more often than his counterpart Cooper Kupp. The Rams’ number two wideout has 19 total receptions since the playoffs have begun and the Bengals’ focus will likely be on Kupp. The Bengals defense is good, but the Rams possess so many weapons and Beckham is too good to be overlooked.

At this point in his career, it seems like the one-time Giants star has found his role on a team full of stars after forcing his way out of a bad situation in Cleveland. Expect Beckham to have a huge day, and maybe consider mixing in an anytime touchdown scorer prop at +140 as well.

Van Jefferson over 33.5 receiving yards

Van Jefferson is the big play receiver for the Rams that DeSean Jackson was supposed to be. Jefferson may not be a volume receiver, but it seems like he hits the over in his receiving yards every single game. Being the third receiving option on the Rams certainly helps, as he’s behind two of the best in Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr.

With Kupp and Beckham taking the majority of the attention, Jefferson has a chance to sneak down the seam for a big play or get lost in the shuffle. The Rams should put up a lot of points in this game and Jefferson should have a hand in helping that.
