After a long wait from the end of the UEFA Champions League group stage, the best tournament in club football finally returns this week. In a season as wide open as we can remember, there are plenty of teams that can put together a great run and end up with the prestigious title.

Winning the Champions League is a war of attrition. Teams need star power and depth in order to balance all the games that their schedule holds. Injuries can devastate a season very quickly and it makes the UCL very tough to predict.

While there may be a better pick out there, you cannot go too far wrong betting on Bayern at this price.

The best bet on the board is Liverpool. They are +500 to win the Champions League and it feels like this could be their year. Mohammed Salah is arguably the best player in the world, Jurgen Klopp is arguably the best coach in the world, and the Reds have taken steps to add even more depth to their roster. Bringing in Luis Diaz from Porto this January gives them another elite attacking option that, when paired with Salah and Sadio Mane, could make them unstoppable. Liverpool will face Inter in the first round of the knockout phase, which will be a tricky battle, but the EPL giants are the better team in all aspects of the game. Their odds will dramatically drop if they get past Inter, so take them now and enjoy watching the best player in the world.

The other two favorites to win this tournament are Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Chelsea won it all last year on the back of a tremendous defensive gameplan. It doesn’t seem like they can do it again, however, and at +600 there isn’t too much value in betting on a repeat champion. The Blues lack a true goalscorer compared to the other favorites and haven’t played as well this season as they did on their Cinderella run last year. PSG are +800 to win the whole thing. With Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, they definitely have the talent. They also have to get past Real Madrid in the round of 16, where the French side is 1-0 up after the first leg. PSG have the starpower but cannot match other teams in overall depth. If an injury or red card hits them, it could be the end of their season. In the Champions League, it is best to stay away from those teams and try to be risk-averse in that sense.


Overall, it’s going to be a thrilling finish. It should be very competitive and entertaining. At this point, Liverpool and Bayern are the best bets to win the whole thing, but ultimately anything can happen.
