Correct score odds & draw tips – Mexico vs. Sweden World Cup betting
Sweden and Mexico will face elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup when they face off on Wednesday afternoon at Ekaterinburg Arena.
Bovada has Mexico as the favorite in this group match at +140 with Sweden at +210 and a draw at+225. The Over/Under for this game is set at 2.5 goals.
Mexico looks to be in good shape in Group F with six points and Germany and Sweden with three goals apiece. They have won their first two matches and stunned Germany in their World Cup opener, but they still have some work to do. It is pretty easy for them, as if they win or play to a draw with Sweden or Germany loses or plays to a draw facing South Korea, which may be unlikely, they are in the round of 16 for the 7th straight time in the World Cup. However, if they lose and Germany wins it will come down to goal differential to who will emerge from the group.
Sweden needs a win in this match or their World Cup is over. They lost to Germany in their last match giving up a goal on a free-kick five minutes into extra time, so that had to be heartbreaking.
The Swedes have to be on the attack in this match needing the win, but that is not their strength. They have only netted one goal in each of their two World Cup matches and in the three matches previous to that, ok they were friendlies, they were shut out.
In the five all-time meetings between these teams each has won twice with one draw. Way back in 1958 was the only time they met in World Cup competition.

Ola Toivonen went scoreless for his French club of Toulouse on the season, but scored the goal in the loss to Germany. Can the Swedes mound an attack in this match? That is a big question, especially since they will be facing a Mexico squad that may take a more defensive approach in this group encounter.
Sweden kept Germany in check, for the most part, in their 2-1 loss against them even though they only had the ball 24% of the time They will likely not be dominated in time of possession in this match and their midfield has to play well pushing forward, which is, again, not their strength.
In their 2nd group match Mexico beat South Korea 2-1 where they gave up the lone goal in extra time. Hirving Lozano has scored in each of the two matches in the World Cup and West Ham’s Javier Hernandez scored in the South Korea match. Mexico has the speed and they have a solid defense, which they have showed in Russia only allowing one goal in two matches.
With the Swedes attacking Mexico will have their opportunities on the counter. Robin Olson is the Swedish GK and he played well in the loss to Germany. He and the back line really have to step up in this match, as with their not so stellar attack up front they may have to keep a clean sheet in this match.
Mexico vs. Sweden betting predictions
This will be a tight match from the get-go, as Mexico will play on the defensive front and the Swedes will be in attack mode.
This does not set up well to each team’s strength. While the Swedes will have their chances, Mexico will keep them at bay and this match will end up in a 1-1 draw, which will advance Mexico to the round of 16 while likely ending Sweden’s run unless Germany falters in their last match.
