Two of La Liga’s top three soccer clubs clash this Sunday when Sevilla hosts Real Betis. We’ve got a pick in that matchup as well as plays in Saturday’s Rayo Vallecano vs. Real Madrid and Sunday’s Barcelona vs. Athletic Bilbao games in this weekend’s La Liga Matchweek 26 best bets.

Rayo Vallecano vs. Real Madrid

Real Madrid (17-6-2) improved to 3-2-0 over its last five matches and to 9-4-0 at home this season with a 3-0 win over Alaves last Saturday. Now Madrid will look to win on the road, where the club is 0-1-1 over its last two road games since going 5-0-0 over its previous five away from home. Rayo Vallecano (9-4-11) is winless in its last six matches with a 0-1-5 record that includes a current losing stretch of four straight matches.

Vallecano has only scored two goals in its last six matches and Real Madrid has allowed zero goals in its last three matches, so a clean sheet for Madrid seems very likely. With that in mind, we’re a bit puzzled to see Real Madrid going off at just -145 with Bovada on the three-way line, especially coming off such a dominant victory. The UNDER 2.5 goals is worth consideration, but considering Rayo Vallecano’s poor recent form, the best bet here is simply on a Real Madrid victory.

Sevilla vs. Real Betis

Sevilla (14-9-2) left more valuable points on the table in a 1-1 draw on the road against Espanyol on Sunday. The second-place club is unbeaten in its last 11 matches, but that run includes a 1-4-0 record over its last five matches. Real Betis (14-4-7) meanwhile has played to only one draw in its last 20 games, compiling a 13-1-6 record since September 23 with a current run of 4-1-0 over its last five games.

It will be interesting to see how Real Betis’s hot offense (averaging 2.8 goals per game over its last five matches) fares against Sevilla’s elite defense (conceding only 0.68 goals per game this season). Last time these two clubs met, Sevilla’s defense won the battle in a 2-0 win. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Sevilla come out on top again, but we’re willing to take a shot on Betis and its red hot offense to score an upset win as big underdogs in this one.

Barcelona vs. Athletic Bilbao

In what was expected to be a defensive slugfest against Real Sociedad on Sunday, Athletic Bilbao (9-10-6) lit up the scoreboard in a 4-0 win. The club is now 4-1-1 over its last six matches since going just 1-4-5 over its previous 10 games. Can Bilbao ride this wave of momentum into an upset win over Barcelona?

It seems unlikely. Barcelona is also playing great with a 5-4-0 record over its last nine matches and has been hot on offense with 10 goals scored over its last three matches. We’re leaning towards the OVER in this match; Bilbao has scored at least two goals in each of its last three matches, and even one goal here would give Barcelona the chance to push this one over the posted total of 2.5 goals with something like a 2-1 win.
