Exotic tips & bookie specials for the 2016 World Cup of Golf

THE World Cup of Golf heads down under this week when Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne hosts a 28-country field.

Australia is the favoured team to take out the pairs competition with major winner Adam Scott and Marc Leishman joining forces, but there are plenty of other winning chances.

Team USA brings a good mix of youth and experience with Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker. It looks the best chance to topple the local hopes as Jordan Spieth has already made an impression on Australian golf by winning the Australian Open.

We’ve found the best exotic bets for the World Cup of Golf and the Tournament By Country betting options is where the money can be made.

Tournament By Country betting tips

There are four categories in which punters can bet into this week. Instead of picking the tournament winner, punters can win on up to four markets which includes the top Asian, European, GB and Ireland and the top Rest of the World team.

This makes it easier to make money betting the World Cup of Golf and we have found our best selections for the week.

Top Asian team:

Japan – $1.90
South Korea – $4
Thailand – $4.50
China – $15
Chinese Taipei – $21
India – $34
Philippines – $41
Malaysia – $41

Japan features recent winner Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Ishikawa which are the hot favourites to be the top Asian team.

Both players are young talents which are multiple winners around the world with Matsuyama winning three PGA Tour titles and the recent World Golf Championship event in China.

Ishikawa hasn’t quite shown his skill on the world level, but he does own a top 30 finish in all four majors and he’s a 14-time winner on the Japan Tour. The Presidents Cup representative will pair nicely with Matsuyama so take the $1.90 at WilliamHill.com.au.

The biggest threat will come from Thailand at $4.50 which features former paratrooper Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnat. Both players are proven on the European Tour and could pose a threat to the Japanese.

Top Rest of the World team:

Australia – $2.25
USA – $3
New Zealand – $8
Canada – $11
Venezuela – $26

The top two teams should be fighting out this market. The Australians are the tournament favourites, but Team USA will be hot on their heels.

The home advantage goes to the Australians at $2.25 and Adam Scott played well without winning at last week’s Australian Open.

The Americans feature two stars of the PGA Tour and they both have experience playing in Australia. Fowler is a rising talent which is starting to justify the hype and Walker is a late-comer to the Tour, but has adapted nicely.

We favour USA at the better price of $3 at William Hill and punters could have a saver bet on New Zealand at $8 which features multiple Challenge Tour winner Ryan Fox and PGA Tour winner Danny Lee.

Top European team:

Spain – $5
Ireland – $6.50
Italy – $6.50
England – $6.50
Sweden – $6.50
Belgium – $7
Denmark – $8
France – $15
Scotland – $15
Wales – $34
Austria – $41
Netherlands – $41
Germany – $41
Portugal – $41

There is great value with
Belgium at $7 with WilliamHill.com.au. The pairing of Thomas Pieters and Nicolas Colsaerts is an underrated threat this week and they could make an impression in Australia.

Pieters finished second in the HSBC Golf Championship in Abu Dhabi earlier this year before finishing fourth at the Olympics in Rio. He then won the Made In Denmark which secured him a captain’s pick into the 2016 Ryder Cup.

Nicolas Colsaerts has been around the block a few times now, but he’s in good form having finished fourth at the Dubai World Tour Championship last week, his best finish all season.

They could topple some of the favourites in this market if they play up to their potential.

Top GB & Ireland team:

England – $2.35
Ireland – $2.50
Scotland – $5
Wales – $9

The English duo of Chris Wood and Andy Sullivan should be tough to beat at $2.35. Both players are at the peak of their careers and they will be suited by the conditions in Melbourne.

The Irish pairing will prove their worth and Lowry is in great form at the moment, but we can’t rely on Graeme McDowell this season.
