PREMIER League 2016-17 rolls on this weekend as the big boys look to back up from midweek European action.
Leicester City’s win over Kobenhavn means they now have nine points in the Champions League group stage – more than the eight they have collected thus far in their EPL title defence.
Arsenal also enjoyed victory, defeating Ludogorets 6-0, but 10-man Manchester City were put the sword by Barcelona as Lionel Messi grabbed a hat-trick.
Having just faced Liverpool, Manchester United will follow up Thursday’s Europa League duties with a tricky trip to Chelsea as Jose Mourinho faces his old mob.
Let’s take a look at all the match odds and value bets for week nine of the 2016-17 Premier League campaign, with top prices from Australia’s best soccer betting sites.

AFC Bournemouth vs. Tottenham Hotspur
12:30pm local (10:30pm AEDT) on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Vitality Stadium
- Spurs to win both halves – $6 at Sportsbet
- Dele Alli first goalscorer – $8
Bournemouth smashed six past Hull City last week in a display that led to renewed calls for Cherries boss Eddie Howe to be considered for the now-vacant England job. Jordon Ibe and Junior Stanislas ran riot on the wings at Dean Court, while Charlie Daniels did nothing to harm his growing reputation as one of the most dangerous defenders in the Premier League. But the underdogs from Dorset face a far greater challenge this time in Tottenham – the only team yet to taste defeat in Premier League 2016-17. The Londoners were held to a 1-1 draw at West Brom, although it may have been an entirely different story had anyone but the inspired Ben Foster manned the sticks for Albion that day. Spurs sauntered to a 5-1 win in Bournemouth last term, but it looks like they will have to make do without both Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane this time around.
Liverpool vs. West Bromwich Albion
5:30pm local on Saturday, October 22, 2016 (2:30am AEDT Sunday) at Anfield
- Half-time draw/full-time Liverpool – $4.20 at William Hill
- Roberto Firmino first goalscorer – $5.50 at Sportsbet
Liverpool felt the absence of Dutch star Georginio Wijnaldum in midfield on Monday night as they played out a frustrating stalemate with Man United. The not-quite-fit Adam Lallana didn’t start either, but the England man came off the bench in the second half and made an immediate impact with his sharp feet and adventurous forward running. Both are a chance to start on Saturday when the Reds play host to a West Brom outfit that somehow snatched a point from Spurs last time out. The Baggies have drawn four of their last six meetings with Liverpool, including both fixtures in EPL 2015-16. Indeed, Albion have restricted the Merseysiders to only three wins from their last 11 league clashes, but one reckons it would take another Herculean performance from their superhero shot-stopper to keep Jurgen Klopp’s title fancies at bay on this occasion.
Manchester City vs. Southampton
1:30pm local (11:30pm AEDT) on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Etihad Stadium
- Correct score 2-0 Man City – $8.50 at Bet365
- Sergio Aguero first goalscorer – $4
Man City’s penalty woes continued as Maarten Stekelenberg saved twice from the spot to give Everton a hard-fought point at Eastlands. Sergio Aguero didn’t start that game due to concerns over a knock picked up on international duty, nor did he make the starting 11 for the 4-0 humbling at the hands of Barcelona in midweek Champions League action. The Argentine striker should be fit to face a Southampton side that has won three of its last four fixtures to move within a game of the top six. The trip to Manchester kicks off a tough five-week stretch that includes dates with Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton, and they will have to it without Cedric Soares while the star Portuguese stopper recovers from a foot injury. Claude Puel’s back line could also be missing England defender Ryan Bertrand, who remains in doubt with a hamstring problem.
Chelsea vs. Manchester United
4pm local on Sunday, October 23, 2016 (2am AEDT Monday) at Stamford Bridge
- Draw/under 2.5 goals – $4.20 at William Hill
- Eden Hazard first goalscorer – $7.50 at Bet365
How will the Chelsea faithful greet their one-time hero, Jose Mourinho, when he returns to the Bridge in charge of the enemy? The Special One oversaw a dour performance as the Red Devils drew 0-0 at Liverpool last Monday, although he has goalkeeper David de Gea to thank for that result. United held only 35 per cent of possession at Anfield, and one suspects a similar kind of cagey, disruptive display might be in store for the trip south. Chelsea’s record against strong opposition this season is not good – they have lost to both Liverpool and Arsenal – and it is difficult to get a good read on their form after back-to-back fixtures against the porous defences of Hull and Leicester. There is, however, no disputing the threat of Blues hitman Diego Costa, who leads the Premier League goalscoring charts with seven strikes in eight games.
