St. Louis gets Philadelphia at home, and the Flyers have lost 13 straight road games. The Flyers also have to play in Colorado on Friday, so Philadelphia could be forced to start Martin Jones in goal. Jones is 7-12-3 with a .902 save percentage and 3.37 goals allowed per game average.

This all bodes well for the Blues, who need every game to hold off the new and improved Minnesota Wild in the Central Division standings. Florida Panthers (-245) @ Montreal Canadiens (+205)

The Panthers ought to be licking their chops at a chance to see the Montreal defense, which has allowed 3.76 goals per game on average this season. Montreal has been terrible this season, but are especially bad at home (9-18-4). Expect Florida to exceed its 4.06 goals scored per game average in this one.

Vancouver Canucks (+180) @ Minnesota Wild (-225)

Newly acquired goaltender Marc Andre-Fleury is expected to make his debut for Minnesota on Thursday, and the Wild have already exhibited their excitement with the many acquisitions general manager Bill Guerin made at the deadline that have the Wild positioned for a deep playoff run.

Minnesota was a tough place to play before the addition of Fleury, the hard-hitting Nicolas Deslauriers, and reliable defenseman Tyson Jost. The Wild are 20-7-1 at home. Now the State of Hockey is fired up and will be at full throat for the debut of the future Hall of Famer starting in net.

Expect the Wild to ride the home crowd to a critical win over Vancouver, and enjoy odds of +274 for parlaying Minnesota with Winnipeg, St. Louis, and Florida to win on the moneyline.

San Jose Sharks (+205) @ Edmonton Oilers (-255)

Edmonton is seeking its sixth straight win at home, where the Oilers are 19-12-0. The Sharks are a .500 team on the road, but are coming off back-to-back wins while the Oilers enter the game on a two-game losing streak. Both those losses came on the road against Western Conference playoff teams, however.

The Sharks have the better defense, both at even strength and on the penalty kill, and that defensive advantage is bigger than the Oilers’ advantage offensively. Take a chance on the Sharks and goalie James Reimer in this one.
