Global Gaming Expo Asia 2022 to change from Macau to Singapore

With the current Covid-19 challenge in Macau, the expo handlers Reed Exhibitions and the American Gaming Association have jointly agreed to change the venue of the upcoming G2E Asia event from Macau to Singapore.

The gaming expo, now to be termed G2E Asia Special Edition: Singapore will take place from 24 to 26 August 2022.

This is an event that has seen several cancellations and postponements for the past three years due to Covid related issues. The last trade show was held last in May 2019. In the hit of the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the event was first moved from May to June and last shifted to December 2020, before it was cancelled totally. In 2021, it was slated to hold in May, then August, and finally November.

With the change in location generally, this will mark the first time the event is to be held outside of Macau, the organizers are optimistic that show exhibitors can attend as usual.

Macau’s travel restriction is stern, the entry requirements stating “all international travelers coming into Macao, who are not residents of Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan or mainland China, will be not be allowed entry,” Singapore’s is more flexible now with Covid restrictions on travellers.

International travellers just need to show a copy of a negative Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test to be allowed entry.

The past GSE Asia was the biggest within its 12 year period of existence, comprising over 200 exhibitors, with the likes of International Game Technology and Caesars Entertainment in attendance, together with 18,000 guests.

The world of gambling is anticipating the ICE London 2022, which is slated to take place from 12 to 14 April.

Similar to G2E Asia, ICE’s handlers had no option but to cancel last year’s event, as well as shift the 2022 edition from February. More than 600 exhibitors are expected to be at the event, together with over 35,000 guests.
