NHL Sunday betting picks and top parlays for 04/17/2022

There are six National Hockey League (NHL) betting games scheduled for Sunday in the Americas, starting at 1pm Eastern Standard Time (US).

The Panthers have won nine straight, scoring 24 times in their last five games. The Red Wings will be playing their second game in as many days, coming off a shut out loss at the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Detroit has allowed more goals per game (2.88) than its scored (2.8) this season. Florida averages 4.16 goals per game but allows 3.77 goals per game. The Panthers also spend some time in the penalty box (703 penalty minutes accessed this season), but Detroit is terrible on the power play (17.1 scoring percentage).

Florida also has the goaltending advantage and have won the first two games of the season series. Expect Florida to continue its success on the road (21-9-6).

San Jose Sharks +205 @ Minnesota Wild -255

Minnesota is coming off an overtime loss at St. Louis in which the Wild started the third period down 4-1. They tied it up at 5-5 with five minutes to go before Cam Talbot allowed his sixth goal of the game in the three-on-three, overtime period.

The Wild will have Marc-Andre Fleury in goal on Sunday, who has been better than teammate Cam Talbot since coming over in a trade from Chicago. He’s won five of six games he’s started for the Wild.

Minnesota is also awesome at home (26-7-2), and the Sharks are not good away from home (13-17-6). The Sharks have lost eight consecutive games. Expect the Wild to extend that streak to nine on Sunday.

Take the Wild on the moneyline and to win by two or more at +105.

Parlaying Minnesota with Florida on the moneyline pays -119. Taking both teams to beat the spread pays +291.

You might also consider betting on Kirill Kaprizov to score a goal in the game. He scored the tying goal against St. Louis on Saturday.

New York Islanders +160 @ Toronto Maple Leafs. -200

The Maple Leafs are coming off a 7-3 scoring barrage against Washington and have won three of five. The Islanders have also won three of five, but Toronto has won both games these two teams have played this season.

Toronto scores a whole goal more than New York per game on average, and the Islanders’ defense is only a quarter goal per game better than Toronto’s. Toronto also stays out of the penalty box, and New York’s penalty kill might be its best weapon. The Maple Leafs are absolute fire on the power play, scoring on 28 percent of those opportunities.

Expect Toronto to complete the season sweep of the Islanders on Sunday.
