AGA Tasks DoJ to bringing Down Illegal Gambling in the U.S

The Gaming industry has in recent years witnessed the infiltration of illegal casinos, sportsbooks, and unregulated gambling operations in unauthorized countries. In the wake of this the American Gaming Association (AGA) beckons on the United States Department of Justice to take down illegal, unregulated casinos and online sportsbooks this was detailed in a letter sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland outlining the dangers of allowing this to continue in the United States.

“While the challenge of illegal gambling is not new, the brazen and coordinated manner in which it occurs—both online and in communities—has elevated this problem to a level that requires significant federal attention,” AGA President and CEO Bill Miller wrote. “We urge the Department to make it a priority to act…to protect American consumers, a crackdown on illegal operators, and enforce federal regulations.”

The increasing rate at which these illegal gambling is going poses a huge risk and threats to the consumers, state economy, and the legal gaming industry, that is why American Gaming Association is working hard to eliminate any form of illegal market existing in the United States.

AGA tasks the DoJ to come up with plans to protect the consumers, by educating the gaming population to always look for legalized gambling brands and issuing a stern warning against the use of illegal markets.

Also tasking the Department of Justice set up a committee to investigate and bring to book foreign brands like Bovada, BetOnline, and MyBookie. These offshore brands violate state and federal laws.

AGA urges the Department of Justice to address issues surrounding all ‘skill games’ any machine game supplier must follow the Johnson Act and also anti-money laundering standards and strong punishments be placed on any erring companies

“Illegal operators have been put on notice: their days as a scourge on our nation are numbered,” added Miller. “These bad actors prey on vulnerable customers, offer no consumer protections, do not ensure integrity or fair play, and generate no economic benefit for states or tribal nations.”
