Games from 11am, Wednesday November 18 – EST Australia
WEDNESDAY brings us a slate of seven NBA games from east to west solely aimed to whet the punters’ collective whistles.
Well, that’s not entirely true, but hey, a little flutter – within your means – makes the games just a little more fun.
We’ve scoured the card for Wednesday and picked out a multi we think has a good chance of getting up.
So sit back, relax, have a read and have a punt and let’s hope we’re on a good thing.
NBA Head-to-head multi
Washington Wizards to defeat Milwaukee Bucks – paying $1.62
Atlanta Hawks to defeat Brooklyn Nets – paying $1.62
Cleveland Cavaliers to defeat Detroit Pistons – paying $1.48
Miami Heat to defeat Minnesota Timberwolves – paying $1.21
Combined NBA multi-bet total = $4.70 @ Sportsbet.com.au
Milwaukee Bucks at Washington Wizards
Tip: Washington Wizards win @ $1.62
Two eastern conference teams that share a .500 record are looking to put their records in the positive in this one. There are a lot of similarities between these two teams. Both have a couple of bonafide stars in the Bucks’ Greg Monroe and Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greg Monroe and the Wizards’ John Wall and Bradley Beal, and both teams have mixed the sublime with the substandard when it comes to their performances. The Bucks did the business against Lebron James and the top of the east Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, winning a 108-105 double over time battle. It was all thanks to a 16 point, 17 rebound monster from Monroe and 16 points and 11 boards to go with three blocks from Giannis. Don’t get us wrong, we love the Bucks, but we just give the edge to the Wizards on their home court. They are also coming off a win after accounting for the Orlando Magic, 108-99, with Kris ‘Kardashian’ Humphries showing off some unheard of range by splashing five treys on his way to 23 points, and Wall dropping 15 points and 11 dimes. The Wiz could be without Beal, who missed the clash with the Magic, but journey man Garrett Temple stepped up in his absence with 18 points and will hope to bring it again.
Atlanta Hawks at Brooklyn Nets
Tip: Atlanta Hawks win @ $1.62
How frustrating are the Hawks? Second in the eastern conference, they were rolled by the 5-5 Utah Jazz on their home court on Monday, backing up a loss to the Boston Celtics adding that to defeats at the hands of the lowly Timberwolves and Pistons. It’s not good enough from a side that wants to be taken seriously in title talks. They surely won’t suffer the embarrassment at the hands of the 1-9 Nets – would they? The no stars – great team work policy only gets you so far in this league and the dream of Jeff Teague taking the next step is fast fading. Guys like Paul Millsap, Al Horford and Kyle Korver have been wonderful servants, but something needs to change in Atlanta if they really want to contend. The Nets, well they are a basket case. With just one win to start the season, they unbelievably pushed the undefeated 10-0 Golden State Warriors to over time, before eventually falling 107-99 after scoring only two points in the extra period. The under rated Thaddeus Young had a blinder with 26-10 and Jarrett Jack dropped 28 with nine dimes, but the likes of the overpaid Joe Johnson didn’t show up. You can imagine things will change in Brooklyn at the end of the season, but for now, they can expect to cop plenty of losses, including at the hands of the Hawks.
Cleveland Cavaliers at Detroit Pistons
Tip: Cleveland Cavaliers win @ $1.48
The Cavs suffered just their second defeat of the season at hands of the Bucks, but we’re expecting a bounce back against the frustrating Pistons. On paper, Detroit has a line up to be reckoned with, sporting one of the best defenders and rebounders in the game in double double machine Andre Drummond, a point guard as quick as any in the game in Reggie Williams and a solid supporting cast featuring Marcus Morris, Irsan Ilyasova and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. But it just isn’t working – as evidenced by Monday’s loss to the woeful Los Angeles Lakers. Drummond did his bit with 17 points and 17 boards, but when your most dangerous player is Spencer Dinwiddie (17 points off the bench) you’re in all sorts of trouble. This assignment is far tougher for the Pistons, with Lebron obviously keen on putting the last loss behind him. James had one of his typical monsters with 37 points, 12 boards and five dimes and Kevin Love had 24 and 14, but the support cast was non existent. And hey, when the corpse of Richard Jefferson plays 39 minutes, you’re in for some pain. They need Kyrie Irving back badly. He won’t be back for this one, but this crew should be good enough to beat a side that just lost to the Lakers.
Minnesota Timberwolves at Miami Heat
Tip: Miami Heat win @ $1.21
A very even Miami Heat side has been one of the good news stories of the season to date. The Heat have recovered from the loss of the King two years ago by building a solid cast around star big man Chris Bosh. But Bosh might not even be their best player. That title could soon be with giant monster Hassan Whiteside, who is dropping double doubles at will and is fast becoming known as one of the best big man defenders in the game. They’re fourth in the conference with a 6-3 record and should have no trouble accounting for the Wolves, who the smacked 96-84 less than two weeks ago. In that game, Dwyane Wade wound back the clock with 25 points and five boards, while all five starters scored in double figures. The Wolves starters were woeful, only Andrew Wiggins reaching double figures – 14 points on a terrible five of 18 shooting. Ricky Rubio is injured, making things very tough, but they will want more out of boom rookie Karl Anthony-Towns who went just 3-13 and had just six points and four boards. The Timberwolves should really be fodder for the Heat and we’re tipping a double digit win.
