We are more than a quarter of the way through the NFL season and things have gone as expected. The predicted contenders of the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are all playing good football and they will be in the mix when the playoffs commence. This week, we have a phenomenal game where the Buffalo Bills will travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs. While that is the headliner, the Week Six slate is packed with interesting games and we are set up for another awesome NFL Sunday. Here are our best picks.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This is a tough game for Pittsburgh but at home, we like the Steelers to cover. The Steelers are an objectively bad team but they have finally switched QB’s and it will be rookie Kenny Pickett under center in this game. Pickett started his first game last week and while that didn’t go well, he gave the Steelers some reasons for optimism. Unlike their previous games, the Steelers actually were able to move the ball offensively and while they only scored three points, they passed for more yards in that game than in any other game this season. The Steelers are not going to win this game but they can play within the number in a tough home game.
The Bucs are also in the midst of a weird season. They are definitively a good team but find themselves at 3-2. Also, they have only covered in one game this season and they have a knack for letting their opponents back into games. For a Tom Brady led team, that is quite uncharacteristic and it will come back to bite them. While they will likely do enough to win this game, they haven’t proven they have the ability to blow teams out and in order to cover in this spot, they will have to pile it on the Steelers. We don’t see that happening and for that reason, we are siding with the lowly Steelers.
Pittsburgh Steelers +9
New England Patriots vs Cleveland Browns
Rhamondre Stevenson is a talented running back for the New England Patriots and he is set up to have a big game. The Browns have given up the second most rushing yards across the entire NFL and the Patriots will take advantage of that. Stevenson is usually the backup for the Pats, but the starter, Damien Harris, projects to miss this game due to a hamstring injury. This will thrust Stevenson into a major role against a porous defense and he should have a monster day. At -115, Stevenson to score is a great bet as the Browns haven’t proven they can stop anyone on the ground.
Rhamondre Stevenson Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Minnesoata Vikings vs Miami Dolphins
Justin Jefferson is one of the elite players in the NFL and he gives defenses fits every time he gets the ball. Jefferson already has three touchdowns this season and he is in a great spot to get another here. The Dolphins have been really bad defending the pass this season and the Vikings should take full advantage of that. Minnesota passes the ball at a very high rate and Jefferson is one of the most targeted receivers in the NFL. We expect that to continue in this game and for Jefferson to reach the end zone. Miami have also given up the most 40+ yard completions in the league and considering Jefferson’s knack for the big play, he could torch them in this game. At -110, this is a great value bet on one of the best receivers in the NFL.
Justin Jefferson Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Kansas City Chiefs vs Buffalo Bills
This is going to be a fun game. These are two 4-1 squads playing some of the best football in the league and these two teams are considered amongst the best in the league. Their QB’s, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, are two of the most talented players in NFL history and they can truly do it all. In games like this between two great teams, taking the home underdog is never a bad idea. Mahomes is 25-6 at Arrowhead Stadium in his career and he has been unreal in front of his hometown fans. In this game, the value is on the underdog and the Chiefs should prevail in this tough battle.
The Bills have looked very good this season but this is a tough spot for them. For as good as the Bills have been, the Chiefs have looked equally as strong and they will give them a battle. Both of these teams will score a ton of points and it may come down to who has the ball last. This game could truly go either way and we feel like the line should be even. For that reason, we are taking the home underdog and who we still consider the best QB in the world.
Kansas City Chiefs +2.5
Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles
This line makes no sense and this bet is quickly becoming one of our favorite plays each and every week. Hurts is the Philadelphia Eagles QB and he is a tremendous scrambler. He already has six rushing touchdowns through his first five games and he only has one game where he didn’t run the ball in. Hurts is genuinely one of the best weapons around the goal line in the NFL and even though his opponents know that, they are powerless to stop him. That should be the case once again in this battle and we love Hurts’ odds to score. At +110, this is our favorite bet on the board and until the oddsmakers put his odds closer to -150, we will keep taking it.
Jalen Hurts Anytime Touchdown Scorer
