Alcaraz, Sinner favoured to make Six Kings Slam semi-finals
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are favourites to join Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals of the Six Kings Slam.
The tournament features a unique format that has Djokovic and Nadal advancing to the semi-finals with an initial bye, while the remaining four players clash in the quarter-finals for a spot in the final four.
Alcaraz takes on Holger Rune and is a -333.33 favourite at Bovada to defeat the world No.15.
Sinner will play Daniil Medvedev for the sixth time this season and is also at short odds with top tennis bookmakers, paying just -303.03 to beat the Russian for an eighth time.
Should Alcaraz prevail, he will play compatriot Nadal in the semi-finals on Thursday, while a Sinner victory would set a rematch of the Shanghai Masters final against Djokovic.
The action will then pause for a day in order to skirt the ATP Tour’s rule that players cannot compete for three consecutive days in exhibition matches.
On Saturday, the Six Kings Slam final and third-place playoff will take place.
“I think it’s going to be amazing to see the best players in the world competing against each other,” said Nadal, who recently announced he will be retiring in November.
“It will be very special.
“It is an honour to be part of such a prestigious event, showcasing our love for tennis.
“The energy here is incredible.
“This tournament is not just about winning, it’s about bringing people together and enjoying the spirit of sports.”
The event has attracted some of the biggest names in the sport through a $1.5 million appearance fee and $6 million prize for the winner — almost twice what the winner of this year’s US Open bagged.
Some have been quick to criticise the Six Kings Slam, however, with former world No.1 Andy Murray calling it “the tennis event no-one cares about”.
