Plenty of love for Packers as Superbowl champions

Green Bay heads a list of nine teams to go 2-0 to start the 2016 National Football League season. And the Packers are the hot favourite to win Superbowl 50 with our friends at Bovada.lv after they banished the demons of last year’s NFC final to knock over Seattle 27-17.

The Packers blew a 16-0 lead against the Seahawks last season and almost did it again when they led 13-3 before Seattle came back with two touch downs in the third term to take a 14-13 lead. But that was all she wrote as Green Bay came home with a wet sail to take out the win and exact a little revenge.

The Seahawks were second favourites before the loss and now sit third on the line of betting.

New England, too, is flying, second favourite for this year’s Super Bowl after accounting for the Buffalo Bills, 40-32, despite a late scare.

Superstar Tom Brady threw for a lazy 466 yards with three touch downs, but they needed every bit of it as a 37-13 lead almost evaporated as the Bills scored 19 in the last quarter to get within eight.

The Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers are the only other teams under $22 to win it all.

Royals the only team they want in MLB World Series Race

The Kansas City Royals have a 1.5 game lead over the Toronto Blue Jays in the tough American League and they’re the hot favourites to win Major League Baseball’s 2015 World Series.

The Jays are on the second line of betting, sharing that mark with the New York Mets, who have lost four of their last five games and seen their lead in the NL East cut to 6.5 games after they shot out of the blocks.

They’re actually nine games back from National League leaders the St Louis Cardinals, who are fifth on the line of betting, behind the inevitably good Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Cards are the only team to clinch a playoff berth at this point in the season, doing so three days ago, strangely with a 5-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs, who are at double figure odds. San Francisco’s loss to Arizona gifted the playoff slot to the Cardinals, who have the best record in the majors at 92-56.

They’re in the post season for the fifth straight year and must be considered a danger, despite injuries to key players.

Lebron’s Cavs still the fancy for NBA title

Cleveland is the favourite to win the upcoming NBA title after Lebron James and company fell at the final hurdle against the Golden State Warriors last season.

The Warriors, with reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Steph Curry in tow and a full championship squad to pick from, aren’t the second favourites behind Cleveland.

That honour falls to the now stacked San Antonio Spurs, after they nabbed Portland superstar LaMarcus Aldridge in an off season coup that also netted veteran big man David West.

The Oklahoma City Thunder, which will welcome back a healthy Kevin Durant to a line up that features the explosive Russell Westbrook and re-signed big man Enes Kanter are the only other team in single figures.

The season kicks off on October 27, with the Cavs travelling to the United Centre to take on Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls.

Blackhawks to go back to back in 2016 Stanley Cup?
