Manchester City will be hoping to return to winning ways when they travel to London for the most anticipated match in Matchweek 17 of the 2019/20 English Premier League season.
Although Pep Guardiola’s side thrashed Dinamo Zagreb 4-1 in midweek to advance to the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League, they are still counting the cost of last weekend’s defeat in the Manchester derby. The loss leaves City in third place on 32 points, six behind second-placed Leicester City and a whopping 14 points adrift of leaders Liverpool.

The best that City can do right now is focus on winning games and hope the teams ahead of them stutter — something that is looking increasingly improbable, given how Jurgen Klopp’s Reds still remain unbeaten in the league this season.
Arsenal ended their longest winless run in 42 years when they beat West Ham United 3-1 last weekend. The victory was the first from three attempts by interim head coach Freddie Ljungberg and saw the Gunners climb to ninth place on 22 points, 10 behind their weekend opponents.
Though they may be behind Leicester City and Liverpool in terms of defensive solidity, Man City are the highest-scoring side in the Premier League this season. That poses a serious problem for an Arsenal defence that has conceded 24 goals in 16 games – the equal-most of any team in the top dozen places.
Arsenal team news
Midfielder Dani Ceballos is still out with a thigh injury sustained on international duty with Spain. Rob Holding also won’t be up for selection this weekend, as the defender continues to struggle will a knee problem.
Man City team news
Both David Silva and John Stones remain in doubt after picking up knocks in the Manchester derby, while Sergio Aguero is still dealing with a thigh injury. Ederson missed the midweek UCL clash with illness but should reclaim his spot in the City goal this weekend. Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane are both sidelined with long-term knee injuries.
Gabriel Jesus goalscorer odds and tips
• Gabriel first goalscorer – +350 at Bovada
• Gabriel to score/Man City to win – +105
Gabriel Jesus has scored 10 goals in all competitions for Manchester City this season, which is an impressive haul for a player who has only recently become a regular starter. The 22-year-old Brazilian has taken his opportunity with Sergio Aguero out, scoring five goals in his last three outings. That kind of form is hard to ignore.
Manchester City vs Arsenal betting predictions
This is one fixture that Pep Guardiola has enjoyed in recent years. The Spanish manager has completed the double over the Gunners in the last two seasons, with Arsenal’s best result being a 2-2 draw two years ago. As the Londoners are still trying to find stability under their interim boss, even with a depleted City side should get the job done.
Prediction: Draw first half/Manchester City to win second half – +350 at Bovada
