A fascinating NFL betting affair is looking to unfold for the Ravens as they face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
The Ravens have flown under the radar this season, sitting 3-1 and tied for first place in the AFC North with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Joe Flacco has had a good season under center and the defense has been solid as well, but the run game could help out some, which it has not done. The Ravens rank in the top five teams in the NFL in both points per game and opponents’ points per game.
The Baker Mayfield era in Cleveland started with a bang after he came off the bench to lead the team to their first season-opening win since 2016. However, in his first NFL start in his last game he did almost pass for 300 yards and made some big plays with two touchdowns, but he had four turnovers in a 45-42 overtime loss to the Oakland Raiders. He has to avoid the turnovers and rely on the run game, which is, surprisingly, getting it done, ranking second in the league in rushing yards per game.

Baltimore is coming off a Sunday Night primetime game where they were on the road and beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 26-14. They had 451 yards and held the Steelers to 284 yards and they also played great run defense. Flacco played well passing for a season-high 363 yards and for the season he has 10 touchdowns and only two interceptions. While the Ravens’ wide receiver corps is not a great one it is a deep one and John Brown leads the team in receiving yards.
Alex Collins has struggled this season to pound the rock on the ground only totaling 158 rushing yards in four games. The Browns have had a good pass rush, thanks to Myles Garrett (4.5 sacks), but still only rank 24th defending the pass and 23rd defending the run.
Mayfield passed for 297 yards in the loss to the Raiders, but the turnovers really hurt in only losing by three points in overtime. He had two interceptions and two fumbles and the Browns are hoping he learned his lesson on how to hold onto the ball. Javaris Landry leads a young set of receiver and Carlos Hyde and rookie Nick Chubb have manned the run game admirably.
In Baltimore’s three wins their defense has held their opponents to 31 points while in the one loss they gave up 34 points.

Mayfield has shown promise in his two games this season and he will show more in this game. He will hold onto the rock as well as get help from the run game and the defense.
The lack of a run game will hurt Baltimore in this division contest, as the Cleveland defense will be much improved from their last game when they gave up 45 points.
We think the Browns will get the win and cover the spread.
