Best value odds and picks for your July 18-19 MLB parlay bet

MLB

MLBWHAT a shame about the Padres last Friday – we were 3-0 heading into the final leg of our MLB parlay last week — but SD lost by a run to the Rangers. Goes to show why it’s important to straight bet your parlay picks too.

Anyways, onto this weekend’s action, we have a 3-game MLB parlay. The games are on Saturday and Sunday, so you’ll need to bet on the parlay at 5Dimes, as they allow handicappers to place open parlays.

Plus, joining 5Dimes is the best decision a MLB handicapper can make. Don’t be tempted by the free play bonus and take the reduced juice offer. You’ll save lots of money every year by utilizing the reduced juice odds at 5Dimes.

The MLB all-star break is over today (Friday, July 17th 2015) and every team is in action.

Red Sox vs. Angels betting lines and picks

When: Saturday, July 18th 2015 at 9:05pm ET

Where: Angel Stadium of Anaheim

The Boston Red Sox (42-47) started strong, but things have gone downhill quickly. The Red Sox are last in the AL East and six games out of a wild card spot. The biggest problem? Pitching – Boston ranks 28th in runs allowed (4.71 RPG).

Rick Porcello (5-9) has a 5.90 ERA and 1.41 WHIP for Boston and will take the mound on Saturday. The Los Angeles Angels (48-40) are 1st in the AL West and they headed into the all-star break on a 7-3 run.

Garrett Richards (9-6) is the starting pitcher for the Angels in this game. Richards sports a 3.53 ERA and 1.28 WHIP – he’s 4-2 in his last six starts and he hasn’t given up more than 4 ER’s during that span.

Both teams rank mid-pack in runs scored, as the Red Sox average 4.22 RPG (13th) and the Angels average 4.18 RPG (15th). One concern with the Angels is the fact they rely so heavily on Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Kole Calhoun.

The Red Sox hold a 2-1 lead in the H2H series this season, but Richards bested Porcello in the lone game the Angels won against Boston back in May. Porcello was hit hard – he allowed 7 hits and 7 ER’s in just 4.1 innings.

We’ll have to see what the line is once the market opens up, but I’ll be betting on the Angels to win. If the money line odds are -160 or below I’ll be using the ML on my parlay – if the odds are higher I’ll opt to bet the Angels run line.

Mariners vs. Yankees betting lines and picks

When: Sunday, July 19th 2015 at 1:05pm ET

Where: Yankee Stadium

The New York Yankees (48-40) went into the all-star break with a 3.5 game lead in the AL East. The Yankees have a 25-16 record at home, but CC Sabathia (4-8) is only 2-3 at Yankee Stadium this season.

Sabathia has a 5.47 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, although he looked good in last start, which resulted in a win over Oakland. I haven’t trusted Sabathia for a couple years now and I expect to get good value on the Seattle Mariners (41-48).

Seattle are 4th in the AL West and struggling, but ace Felix Hernandez (11-5) comes into this game with a 2.84 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. Those are incredible numbers. He also has 112 SO’s in 117.1 innings, which is 8th most in the league.

As a team – the Mariners rank 27th in runs scored (3.51 RPG) and 15th in runs allowed (4.04). The Yankees score 4.65 RPG (2nd) and allow 4.35 RPG (20th). The Yankees lead the H2H series 3-0 so far this season.

Hernandez gave up 7 ER’s in 6 innings in a loss to the Yankees at home in June. Hernandez is the type of ace that won’t forget his last performance against this team and I expect him to bounce back strong.

The only concern is can the Mariners provide Hernandez with enough run support? My money is on them doing so and I believe we’ll get plus money or close to it, despite the fact that Sabathia has been struggling most of the season.

Best Bet: Seattle Mariners ML at 5Dimes

Dodgers vs. Nationals betting lines and picks

When: Sunday, July 19th 2015 at 1:35pm ET

Where: Nationals Park

The Los Angeles Dodgers (51-39) have the third best record in the major leagues. The Dodgers are on the road against the Washington Nationals (48-39) this weekend in a series between two of the best teams in the NL.

The Nats are 1st in the NL East, while the Dodgers are 1st in the NL West.

Both teams will have great pitching, so expect a low total and close ML odds. Max Scherzer (10-7) has a 2.11 ERA and 0.78 WHIP. He has been great during the first half of the season, but not as good as Zach Greinke (8-2).

Greinke has a 1.39 ERA and 0.84 WHIP. Greinke hasn’t allowed a run in his last five starts, so until he comes back down to earth, there’s no way I’m betting against the Dodgers best pitcher this season.

Both teams have plenty of pop in the line-up, but this will be a pitchers duel. The Dodgers (4.18 RPG) score slightly less runs per game than the Nationals (4.28 RPG), but the Dodgers have way more HR’s (113 vs. 86).

The area that concerns me the most about picking the Dodgers are the home/away splits. The Nats are 25-16 at home (Scherzer is 4-4 at home), while the Dodgers are 18-22 on the road. However, Greinke is 4-1 in away games.

Best Bet: Los Angeles Dodgers ML at 5Dimes

I recommend betting these picks straight up and then all three together on a parlay. That way if we only lose one game again, you’ll come out ahead. 5Dimes is the place to bet on MLB parlays all season long.
