Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook to open February 9 in Vegas

Betfred, one of the biggest independent bookmakers worldwide, has disclosed the launch date for its Mohegan Sun sportsbook outlet. The subsidiary will be Betfred’s first step into the Nevada sports betting market.

The wagering operator revealed that Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook would be open to the public on Thursday, February 9, ahead of this weekend’s Super Bowl. The venue will open in Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, which is part of Hilton’s Curio Collection.

Betfred’s announcement comes just over a week after the Nevada Gaming Commission and the state’s Gaming Control Board granted the company approval to offer sports wagering in Mohegan Sun.

Betfred’s founder and chairman, Fred Done, announced the launch date, revealing that the company intended to make the Mohegan Sun sportsbook facility a top-class betting hub for gamblers in the state.

“After a long regulatory process, we are thrilled to finally open the doors of the Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook,” Done said.

“This facility means so much to me and the entire Betfred team as we enter into the Nevada market, the sports betting capitol of the world, ready to wow sports fans with a leading, modern facility at Mohegan Casino Las Vegas.”

Betfred created the Las Vegas-based Betfred USA Sports in 2019 in a bid to venture into the constantly growing US sports betting market. Fred and Peter Done founded Betfred Group in 1967, and it currently operates more than 1,400 betting outlets across the UK.

Joe Hasson, the general manager of Mohegan Casino Las Vegas, released a statement saying, “It’s great to see our partnership with Betfred come to life in Nevada. The Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook will be a destination for sports fans that crave the convenience and comfort of the sportsbook at the off-Strip property.”

Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook is located on the casino floor of the establishment and is equipped with luxury seating in addition to over-the-counter wagering and a video wall with several high-definition TVs. Some betting options available include in-game wagering, futures, parlays, teasers, props, and several others. Most of the employees at Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook will be part of the Connecticut-based casino operator’s staff.

Betfred will have Elbert ‘Ickey’ Woods, Cincinnati Bengals and UNLV Rebels football legend, place the first bet on February 9 to celebrate the grand opening. Afterwards, the NFL star will host a public meet-and-greet at the Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook.

Richard Bosworth — President and CEO of J.C. Hospitality, the owner of Virgin Hotels Las Vegas — revealed that the sportsbook’s launch date was perfect, especially with sports enthusiasts tuning in worldwide for the fast-approaching Super Bowl game. He also mentioned the recent collaboration between Betfred Sports and Nevada’s NHL franchise, the Vegas Golden Knights.

“The new Betfred at Mohegan Sun Sportsbook delivers a diverse, engaging selection of betting options, no matter if you’re a huge sports fan or just want to check out the fun,” Bosworth said.
