UFC Vegas 19: Blaydes vs Lewis Main Card Betting Preview

The main event of UFC Vegas 19 this Saturday features two top five heavyweights as Curtis Blaydes takes on Derrick Lewis. The main card bouts leading up the main event feature two heavyweight fights and some other competitive matchups that should provide fight fans with plenty of entertainment.

Women’s Bantamweight Bout

Ketlen Vieira (-270) vs. Yana Kunitskaya (+230)

Ketlen Vieira (11-1-0) lost her first fight and her perfect record as a professional in a surprising loss by knockout against Irene Aldana at UFC 245 in December of 2019. She bounced back with a win over Sijara Eubanks in September and is looking to continue her path towards title contention with a win over Yana Kunitskaya.

Kunitskaya (13-5-0) is 3-1 over her last four fights since losing her UFC debut to Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino at UFC 222. While Kunitskaya is a solid bantamweight, her style doesn’t match up well against Vieira; she doesn’t have the striking ability to catch Vieira with a shot or the takedown defense to overcome her strong wrestling skills. Look for Vieira to control the tempo en route to a decision win in this one.

Featherweight Bout

Charles Rosa (-180) vs. Darrick Minner (+155)

Charles Rosa (13-4-0) has alternated wins and losses since he joined the UFC and is 4-4 over his last four fights coming off of a win against Kevin Aguilar in June. He will try to break his trend of alternating wins and losses against Darrick Minner (25-11-0), who is 3-1 over his last four fights including a 1-1 record in the UFC. Both of these fighters are submission specialists that will be comfortable taking this fight to the ground. That should eventually favor Rosa, who has never lost via submission while Minner has eight career losses via submission.

Heavyweight Bout

Chris Daukaus (-200) vs. Aleksei Oleinik (+170)

The 31-year-old Chris Daukaus (10-3-0) has picked up back-to-back first round knockouts in his first two fights with the UFC and will look to keep things going against the seasoned veteran Aleksei Oleinik (59-14-0). Oleinik won two of his three fights in 2020 and is chasing his 60th career win. He’s got a legitimate shot at an upset in this classic grappler vs. striker matchup; Daukaus is a fair favorite given his power and youth, but Oleinik is offering great value at +170 as he has a clear path to victory via submission if he can get this fight to the mat.

Middleweight Bout

Phil Hawes (-127) vs. Nassourdine Imavov (-+107)

Phil Hawes (9-2-0) has won five straight fights (including his UFC debut in October) via first round stoppage with four knockouts and one submission. Nassourdine Imavov (9-2-0) has won six straight fights including his UFC debut in October. These two middleweights both have a lot of momentum coming into this fight. It should be a competitive one as the close betting line suggests, though Hawes’ explosiveness and power should give him the edge.

Heavyweight Bout

Tom Aspinall (-245) vs. Andrei Arlovski (+210)

Like Phil Hawes, Tom Aspinall (9-2-0) has ripped off five straight wins via first round stoppage with all five of those wins (including his first two UFC bouts) coming by technical knockout. Andrei Arlovski (30-19-0) has put an end to his recent 1-4 slump with back-to-back decision wins over Philipe Lins and Tanner Boser. Arlovski is a 42-year-old journeyman that hasn’t knocked anyone out since 2015; the edge clearly goes to the young up-and-comer Aspinall here.
