Leading online sportsbook and casino Betsson has signed a new front-of-shirt sponsorship agreement with Club Atletico Boca Juniors, it was revealed on Monday.

The move is logical for Betsson, with it expanding its Latin American facing presence in the process, and will give them unprecedented exposure on Argentina.

The sponsorship deal was signed on Monday by Betsson Group CEO and CCO Jesper Svensson and Ronni Hartvig, Boca Juniors president Jorge Amor Ameal and the manager of Betsson Argentina, Maximiliano Bellio.

In a statement, Svensson called the new collaboration “historic” and expressed the group’s excitement to work with the Boca Juniors.

“Boca is unquestionably the most esteemed team in South American football. It has been home to legendary players like Diego Maradona, who alongside other remarkable players, has elevated Boca to an iconic team globally,” Svensson said.

“By sponsoring Boca, we are partnering with the most recognised sports brand in Latin America, thereby strengthening our rapid and consistent expansion in the region.”

While the financial details of the sponsorship deal were not publicly disclosed, it is evaluated at around $7.5 million. The agreement will also be in effect for the next year and a half.

According to Betsson’s Country Manager for Argentina, Bellio, the gaming operator’s logo will be displayed on the upper front of the Boca Jerseys from June 29, 2023.

The team is set to face off against Monagas on Thursday, the final day of the Copa Libertadores de America group stage. The logo will be featured in both the male and female first-division shirts for local and international matches.

“This alliance will mark a significant milestone for Betsson at a regional level. It will accelerate the exposure of our brand throughout Latin America and beyond,” Hartvig said.

“We are excited to enter into a partnership with a club that transcends borders, boasting of millions of supporters and fans all around the world.”

The agreement also marks a significant accomplishment for the Boca Juniors, as the team has not had a front-of-shirt sponsor since mid-2022.

Betsson and Boca Juniors initially debuted the partnership on Sunday night during a farewell game organized for club legend Juan Román Riquelme. The event occurred at the La Bombonera Stadium and featured superstar athletes like Lionel Messi.

Betsson CEO Svensson also attended the event where he said that the Para Toda La Vida match was a popular one among soccer fans.

“This is a historic match that will remain engraved in the hearts of all Boca Juniors fans and football lovers,” Svensson said.

Sport and football in particular are in Betsson’s DNA; That’s why we couldn’t be left out of such a significant and important event for the club with the most titles and most popular in Argentina.”
