VfB Stuttgart had a strong season in its return to Bundesliga in 2020-21, finishing in the top half of the table with a 12-9-13 campaign. With the experience and confidence gained from last year, all signs point to another solid season for Stuttgart in 2021-22.

Greuther Furth had finished in ninth place or worse in 2. Bundesliga for six straight seasons before last year’s shock second-place finish. The club’s 18-10-6 season was enough to earn promotion for just the second time in Gruether Furth’s history. Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Two of last season’s top-five finishers clash in what should be one of the most exciting games of the weekend. Despite the fact that Borussia Dortmund finished second in Bundesliga in scoring with 75 goals and Eintracht Frankfurt finished third in scoring with 69, the two games between these two clubs were surprisingly low-scoring with Frankfurt winning 2-1 on the road and playing a 1-1 draw at home.

Look for fireworks to return in this Matchday 1 showdown. Before last season, these two clubs had combined to score at least four goals in five of their previous six meetings. Both squads will be looking to make an early statement and should find their way to at least four goals.
