Bundesliga team Bayern Munich sign Sadio Mane for next season

Bayern Munich Signs Sadio Mane: Is this The End of the Lewandowski Years?

The Summer Transfer Window is off and running and Bayern Munich is making some huge moves. After a disappointing season in which the German giants lost to Villarreal in the Champions League quarterfinals, Bayern is shuffling their squad around. Of course, Bayern won the Bundesliga but the success of their season is measured by their Champions League finish as they have won the last 10 Bundesliga titles.

Regardless, Bayern have announced the signing of Sadio Mane from Liverpool for 41 million euros. Mane is expected to be a key player in Bayern’s squad next year and he could be especially important if the rumors about striker Robert Lewandowski leaving come to fruition.

Mane is a great player who still has a couple years left in his tank. He is only 30 years old and is coming off a season where he scored 21 goals in 52 matches. He is not an out and out stiker like Lewandowski but he is able to fill in there if Bayern ask him to.

It will be a tough task replacing Lewandowski, however, as he is considered the best striker in the world. He won the last Ballon d’Or as the greatest player in the world and is coming off a season where he scored 50 goals in 47 games. Mane will be able to fill in, but it will truly be a team effort if they want to match the impact Lewandowski had.

Even if they lose Lewandowski, Bayern will still be a strong team. They have a phenomenal defense and midfield and they always seem to be more athletic than their opponents. Beyond Mane, Bayern also announced they have signed Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch for 18.5 million euros.

At that price, Gravenberch is a complete steal as he has been one of the best young midfielders in the world over the past few years. He is only 24 and he should be a key midfielder for Bayern for the next five years. He is not a goalscorer, as he only had 12 goals in 103 games for Ajax, but he is a great midfielder and you can never have too many talents like him.

There are still a lot of things that can happen to Bayern over this Summer Transfer Window and while the Lewandowski decision is the big one, other players will be swapped in and out of the squad. Bayern are heavily favored to win the next Bundesliga and it makes sense. They have absolutely dominated the Premier German Division and will likely win their 11th title in a row. Even so, the top betting sites have their odds of -500are not a good value bet and although Lewandowski leaving will put a dent in those odds, they will probably not drop enough to make it worth betting.

The real value comes in their Champions League odds. Bayern is in the mix each and every season and with these new signings, they should be back amongst the pantheon of European super clubs. Bayern currently sits at +700 with Bovada to win the Champions League and that’s pretty good value.

That being said, Lewandowski leaving will certainly drop their odds and it would be wise to wait for that situation to settle. It is still too early to lock in a bit on Bayern but they are a team to keep your eye on. They will shuffle the squad around in the next couple months but regardless of what happens, Bayern will be a great team. Now, with Mane and Gravenberch, they have even more talent to lean on and the Berlin boys will be prepared for whatever challenges hit them next season
