Carolina Panthers coverage odds & tips vs. Seattle Seahawks – NFL 2018
Betting Line: Panthers -3.5
Over/Under: 47.5 points at 888 Sportsbook
The Carolina Panthers will look to snap a recent two-game skid when they host the Seattle Seahawks in a crucial NFL match-up that provides a number of great betting options for punters.
This NFC matchup is between two teams that are chasing the Wild Card in the NFC. The Seahawks won their last game, but trail the 10-1 LA Rams in the NFC West and the Panthers have lost two straight and trail the 9-1 New Orleans Saints in the NFC South. One thing Carolina has going for them is that they are 6-4 and face the Saints twice at the end of the season and the Seahawks are 5-5 and have already lost to the Rams twice.
The Seahawks have a legit defense ranking 11th overall in that category, but the defense has given up an average of 28.3 points in their last three games.
Before losing their last two games the Panthers were on the right course winners of four in a row. At least the schedule favors them as in this game and then in their next two they do not face a team that has a winning record.
These teams have not faced each other since the 2016 season.
This season the Seahawks are 5-3-2 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 4-6 with the Panthers at 5-5 ATS with an Over/Under record of 6-4.
Seattle was at home in their last game and they had a solid win beating Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. 27-24. They outgained the Packers 378-359, but the main reason they got the win was the run game. First of all they rushed for 173 yards and they held Green Bay to only 48 rushing yards.
Russell Wilson has had a quiet, but decent season and had one of his better starts in the win over the Packers to the tune of 225 yards with two touchdowns and he did not have any interceptions. Chris Carson rushed for 85 yards to lead Seattle and they have a few backs that have been getting it done on the ground. The Seahawks are a run-first team, but they may want to change things up in this NFC encounter since Carolina ranks a solid 8th in the league defending the run, but only 21st defending the pass.
In their last game, the Panthers were on the road for the 2nd straight Sunday and for the 2nd straight Sunday they took a loss falling to the Detroit Lions 20-19. It was a tough loss considering their kicker missed a 34-yard field goal as well as a point-after attempt. Overall, the Panthers outgained the Lions 387 yards to 309 yards, but their run game was nowhere to be found and they had a turnover while they did not force any.
In the loss to the Lions Cam Newton did pass for 357 yards with three touchdowns and one interception, but got no help from the run game. Newton and Christian McCaffrey, who had 51 yards on the ground in the Detroit game, have to establish the run early in this game. They had to air it out more in the Lions’ loss to get back in the game, but while Newton can toss the pigskin they are a much better team when running the ball often.
On the season, the Seahawks rank 11th in the league in pass defense and 17th in run defense.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers betting prediction
The Panthers seem to be a different beast at home, where their defense has been much better. We expect that trend to continue in this game and they will run the ball better than then did last week.
Add that up and you get a Panthers win, and they will also cover, which will snap their two-game slide and send Seattle under .500.
