Carson Wentz traded to Washington Commanders | NFL Trade News

Indianapolis Colts starter Carson Wentz traded to commanders

In yet another trade involving QB’s, Indianapolis Colts starter Carson Wentz has been dealt to the Washington Commanders. It was rumored the Commanders wanted to get Russell Wilson but after his trade to the Broncos, their fans now will have to deal with the second choice.

And it is quite a difference of choices. Wentz in 2017 was an MVP candidate and has been bad to mediocre since then. Many NFL fans and experts have questioned whether he is talented enough to be a starting quarterback.

The Colts had made it clear that they were looking for a new quarterback after Wentz and the Colts put up a dud in week 17, causing them to miss out on the playoffs. Wentz only played in Indy for one year after they traded a first round pick to the Eagles to acquire him.

Now, Wentz and his 28$ million a year contract heads to D.C. for two third round picks. The Commanders, formerly the Football Team and Redskins, are coming off a disappointing 7-10 season where they missed the playoffs. Their season was marred by poor QB play and they will believe this is the move to get them over the hump. If they are the team that can reclaim Wentz’s glory days, then it will be a resounding success. But those days are getting further away with each passing season.

Carson Wentz actually had a strong statistical season last year with 27 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. However, he is prone to make timely mistakes that can be quite demoralizing for his teammates and fans alike. The Colts also had a very talented roster and probably should have done better than where they finished.

Wentz will join another talented roster and the Commanders will expect to make the playoffs as soon as this year. If he fails, this could be his last chance at being a starter.

Overall, this is another domino that falls in the NFL’s QB carousel. There will almost certainly be more moves before the football draft commences next month. We can take the Commanders off the list of teams looking for a QB and replace them with the Colts. Who the Colts decide on, though, remains to be seen.
