Best bets for Ben Stokes
After a tumultuous 2017, Stokes will look to put his best foot forward over the English summer and remind everyone of his peerless match-winning credentials. These are some of the best bets on offer at our top-ranked cricket betting sites.
- Top England batsman
Many cricket pundits regard Stokes as the world’s best number six. While his career stats are not all that flattering, he boasts a well-earned reputation for scoring big runs when England need them most. Expect him to pull out a match-turning knock at some point in the series. - Top England bowler
Strong, fast and capable of extracting movement where others cannot, Stokes has that uncanny knack of delivering the goods at important moments. Fiery spells that produce three or four wickets are not uncommon, so he is always a chance to upstage Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad from time to time. - Man of the match
This is where Stokes’ all-round ability makes him a real contender. He is not just a handy hitter and a part-time seamer, but a genuine match-winner in both disciplines. Perhaps only England skipper Joe Root is a better bet for England. - Player of the series
Everything we said about man of the match betting applies here as well. While Stokes is unlikely to top either the runscoring or the wicket-taking charts over five Test matches, there is a fair chance he will rank among the top half-dozen players in each. That makes him a big chance for player of the series.

Ben Stokes Player Profile
Born in New Zealand but moulded in the north of England, Ben Stokes had already earned a measure of notoriety by the time he debuted for England in 2011. He made headlines for the wrong reasons a few years earlier when was banished from a touring under-19 squad for breaking curfew and several other team rules. This gifted allrounder, like Ian Botham and Andrew Flintoff before him, had his own way of doing things.
With a few ODI appearances under his belt, Stokes made his Test debut on the ill-fated 2013/14 Ashes tour of Australia. While the Three Lions endured a nightmarish summer in the Antipodes, their new number six earned rave reviews all round. In only his second Test match, Stokes gave the world a taste of things to come with a fighting 120 as England collapsed at the WACA and Australia regained the urn.
By the start of 2015, the formidable ginger was a regular for England in all formats. By the end of 2016, he was one of the best all-round cricketers on the planet. That year included a sensational Test tour of South Africa, where Stokes starred with bat and ball en route to the player of the series gong. The highlight: a record-breaking 258 off only 198 balls in the New Year’s Test at Cape Town.
Despite his powerful hitting and knack for quick wickets, Stokes avoided the overseas T20 circuit for many years. He had a brief stint at the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League in 2015, but it was not until two years later that he first graced the Indian Premier League. It was then, at the 2017 player auction, that Rising Pune Supergiant made Stokes the highest paid cricketer in the history of the IPL.

Ben Stokes stats vs India
Stokes has posted mixed results against India in the long form. After amassing a grand total of zero runs across two matches back in 2014, he was one the better performers on England’s horror tour of the subcontinent two years later. His 128 at Rajkot and 5/73 at Mohali serve as stark reminders of his all-round menace.Best innings figures5/73Bowling average39.26Economy3.03Strike rate77.26
