Croatia and Spain head to Copenhagen for the round of 16 at Euro 2020 as both teams look to build on dominant last-start wins. BettingPlanet brings you our best bets and match analysis for Monday’s clash at Parken Stadium.

Croatia vs Spain match analysis

Following a dominant 3-1 win over Scotland, Croatia are seemingly full of confidence heading into their round of 16 encounter against Spain. Superstar midfielder Luka Modric was back to his creative best with a goal and assist in Glasgow, whilst Ivan Perisic proved a capable ally in netting a goal and setting up Nikola Vlasic’s strike in the 17th minute.

It was the first real statement of intent for the tournament from the 2018 FIFA World Cup finalists. With a midfield consisting of Mateo Kovacic, Marcelo Brozovic and Modric, this Croatian side will not go down without a fight against their more fancied rivals. They will, however, head to Copenhagen without veteran centre-back Dejan Lovren, who will miss the game through suspension.

Spain finally managed their first win of Euro 2020 when disposing of Slovakia to the tune of 5-0 in their final group match. It was a complete dismantling, but it could have been a lot better with striker Alvaro Morata missing from the penalty spot and also missing a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper.

With confidence on their side, and a squad littered with superstars, Spain will head to Copenhagen confident of progression through to the final eight. Even though they have been well short of their brilliant best in recent times, the hunt for a fourth European Championship title continues.

Croatia vs Spain betting tips

Match result (90 mins): Draw

Despite the disparity in the Euro 2020 betting markets, we expect this to be the tightest encounter in the round of 16. Spain were dominant in their win over Slovakia, but Croatia will prove a completely different challenge. Whether this game is decided in extra time or penalties is another thing, but after 90 minutes, we expect the scores to be locked. Spain had two draws to begin their Euro 2020 campaign, and we expect it to be three draws from four matches.

Both teams to score: Yes

Despite this game looking like a stalemate, there will be goals involved. With the creative trio of Brozovic, Modric and Kovacic the Croatian forwards will almost certainly get their chance to test the Spanish goal. However, with no Lovren in defence for Croatia, the Spaniards will also prove a handful to keep out at certain times throughout the match.
